RE: List Down?
Hallo Tony et al, I keep missing these steamups--Clark's too--It's my wife's fault for being born--the family comes from far and near on her birthday to sympathise over her marriage! It wasn't MY dog that bit me and I'm still infected--more so than my normal state! I haven't started barking and foaming yet, I only manage to get my locos to do that. It was lovely firing the Britannia with good Welsh coal--no clinkers, light on the smoke, hi on the steam Dam the antiboitics and dack to a hot poltice! Hi Geoffrey, I hear you gave your dog a serious injury, but you had to take the medication for it?. Do you even begrudge your dog a taste of the good stuff. Shame on you!. Steve was correct about Gary's steamup, however I think he mean't to say "most of us maintained steam, and all maintained dignity and cordiality". Well, actually TWO plastic garbage cans of 30 gallons apiece. It wasn't anything special just peas sized Pocahontas bituminous, not Welsh Dry Steam coal. But it keeps Maisie hot when required! Keith

I instructed the train crew to go back and tie down handbrakes on at least ten of the cars to hold us back when I released the train brake, needing that many to hold the train on the grade while the locomotives compressors recharged the air brake lines. Well, Some interesting train wrecks you fellows have!!--and I watched a TV documentary last night about a bloody awful train crash in San Bernardino! My Merlin Hunslet overturned on a friends s/b station a few years ago, catching fire. No stiff upper lip there--lots of panic! This segment of tape is wonderful to edit into any train tape as a transition piece. For real fun the tape cycles through 3-4 crashes within 12 seconds just to satisfy that primitive delight we all take in watching a crash. It is easier to be delighted since no damage was evident! RE: List Down?
Are we turning into Brits?? Well, there was one amazing display of aplomb and stiff upperlips when a collective couple of decades of live steaming experience demonstrated the effects of setting a switch the wrong way when two stoutly-constructed locos were sharing the track - from opposite directions. Both locos came through the demonstration well. But that's all the info I will allow myself to reveal. Steve

Steve, I really wanted to attend GaryB's steamup but we had all the family from the four corners. Glad you all had a good time--Cordiality--yes--but dignity?? Geoff, Seriously, I am glad to hear that your convalescence is proceeding positively, and that you have retained your sense of priorities. Thanks Trent, Actually, like Steve, the main concern of my family was for the doggie!!-- 'tho the wound has some infection, it's not enough to curtail my steaming and at least I am retired and don't work like you. Thanks too, Steve, the family enjoyed your support! "Get Well" cards to the Labrador can be sent with a ten dollar bill (for Tanqueray medication) to "Max"--- care of me, and I'll -Hic- make sure he gets it. Yap, Yap, Geoff. Hello Geoff, I must admit, I started to take my turn at poking a little harmless fun at your expense, but I really didn't foresee my being able to top Steve's response. Seriously, I hope your wounds heal quickly. Nothing worse that having an ailment with such beautiful spring weather coming up. (But, a job that takes most of one's daylight hours has to run a close second. ) Later, Trent Shyvers, Steve wrote: >Could you post the address of the Labrador so that we could send "get well" >cards?

Kevin's new home [was: List Down?]
Hello Kevin, Glad to hear that you've arrived safely at your new residence. Sounds as though your packing arrangement was properly planned. Steam articles get packed last, and therefore have to be unpacked first. Everything else is just details. Right? Later, Trent >No steaming yet, but I have to >unpack my steam-up supplies first, anyway. >

Geoff, Could you post the address of the Labrador so that we could send "get well" cards? Steve

Well, we're alive and well out here in Denver, after pulling up stakes from the frozen confines of Rochester. No steaming yet, but I have to unpack my steam-up supplies first, anyway. Later, K
Re: List Down?
OK up here in the Northern California redwoods, too. Except that I banged up my leg badly on my bicycle -dismounting!!-then, after a month, as soon as I was able to bike again, a lovely labrador (I love dogs!--except that one) took a chunk out of my leg. So treatment on that--most people who know me are more concerned about the dog catching the pox!! Gee, life is tough for an old fart!! I steamed on Monday--a 3/4" Britannia, but that's a properly required no-no with this group. Lovely Welsh coal purchased from my old stamping grounds--Southern California. Did you know that in the last century Welsh coal was imported to the West coast by boat and then hauled overland to some RRs in Arizona --as I recall.--wish I could remember where I read that! HELP!! Clark will probably know. I hope the Aster Flying Scotsman arrives before the rabies developes. --on the dog, I mean!! Life Steams, so steam on! Geoff. Alive and well in Texas! > >Jim Crabb >Seabrook

Ok in CT too. This past winter (sic) was our warmest and dryest on record. The PVLS club in Southwick MA has several meets planned this season. If anyone plans to be in New England this year, let me know and I'll send the schedule. They run engines in 1.5", 1" and .75" scale. Terry It does not appear that the list is down, only the contributors. The improved weather through out the world, even Australia, must mean everyone is boiling water.
