[Standards] UPDATED: XEP-0045 (Multi-User Chat)

2012-02-08 Thread XMPP Extensions Editor
Version 1.25 of XEP-0045 (Multi-User Chat) has been released.

Abstract: This specification defines an XMPP protocol extension for multi-user
text chat, whereby multiple XMPP users can exchange messages in the context of
a room or channel, similar to Internet Relay Chat (IRC). In addition to
standard chatroom features such as room topics and invitations, the protocol
defines a strong room control model, including the ability to kick and ban
users, to name room moderators and administrators, to require membership or
passwords in order to join the room, etc.

Well, XEP-0234 is not finished, so "should have been done" is a bit
pessimistic. I have just updated the spec to track the latest changes to
XEP-0300 and I'd be happy to make further changes so that we can support
future checking algorithms. I agree that we also need to provide clearer
documentation of ranged transfers (e.g., reusing the Jingle session ID).
