Version 1.19.0 of XEP-0060 (Publish-Subscribe) has been released. Abstract: This specification defines an XMPP protocol extension for generic publish-subscribe functionality. The protocol enables XMPP entities to create nodes (topics) at a pubsub service and publish information at those nodes; an event notification (with or without payload) is then broadcasted to all entities that have subscribed to the node. Pubsub therefore adheres to the classic Observer design pattern and can serve as the foundation for a wide variety of applications, including news feeds, content syndication, rich presence, geolocation, workflow systems, network management systems, and any other application that requires event notifications. Georg also has issues - namely, experience shows that the default should be 'all' and not 'roster'; and, in the context of XEP-0313, there should be a way to indicate that MAM storage preferences have not yet been explicitly configured, so the client can display a GDPR opt-in dialog. Jonas thinks it will be easier to handle those concerns in an XEP independent of 0313. Dave is concerned that this is using the same namespace as XEP-0313 - Jonas thinks that's a feature, not a bug; Georg doesn't think it's necessarily a problem. Editor will try to move it to a different namespace once a bumping change happens - Dave thinks it might be worth just changing the namespace now, with a note of what it was previously.
