RE: Struts plugin for eclipse
hi , I had some problems with the same as well.If installed correctly clicking on the struts config file is enuf to launch the editor... look below if it helps. hi , its working now after a lot of trial runs I removed all the fr... folder from plug in and features and unzipped it again to the respective folders. When I restarted I got an invalid config error as Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the current configuration. See details for more information. Improve Struts editor and WSDL viewer for Eclipse (0.4.1): Feature requires plug-in net.sf.solareclipse.xml.ui. Strangely net.sf.solareclipse.xml.ui was present in my plug in folder...but I couldnt see it in Help About Eclipse Platform Plug-in Details So I removed all folders again and unzipped them back again, the thing is I think u need to start eclipse every time to reflect the changes like after removing the folders and again after unzipping for the plug ins to have an effect I can see the editor now ..and will play around for a while , /// -Original Message- From: message message [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 13 August 2003 22:03 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Struts plugin for eclipse After going through the manual install which I is believe the stage you have reached. RE: Struts plugin for eclipse
I don't like the strugs plug-in for Elipse. It takes too much time to click and do things. Then again, I AM developing on a dual CPU 266 MHZ PII (yes, 2 PII's at 266 MHZ each) computer. I need to upgrade this 6 year old machine SOOO badly. :( And to think it was once high-tech. Well, back to Struts 1.1 for me -David

I haven't tried the newest release yet, but Struts Console has a plug-in for eclipse. The last version I tried didn't really integrate into the workbench so much as open in a pop-up window, but it worked pretty well and provided the full-featured gui of Struts Console. RE: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse?
Easy Struts doesn't support tiles forwards in action mappings and it doesn't handle validation.xml and it doesn't handle tiles-defs.xml. It is still pretty immature. However, StrutsConsole handles everything really well. Usually I do a combo of normal text editing and struts console. Most of the stuff you do is easily copy and pasted in a text editor. Then you can go back and make attribute value changes as you need. The nice thing about strutsconsole is that you can validate your various config files. It is also so well organized that it helps you remember what configuration options are available and how to handle them. RE: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse?
To be fair, Struts Console isn't really an Eclipse plugin. The plugin just launches the program external to Eclipse. For some reason, the menubar disappears when you do this so you may as well just launch the standalone Struts Console. Pshaw. Heathens, pagans, and troglodytes, all. I use vim for all my XML editing. Does quite nicely against struts-config, with code folding and syntax highlighting. Most of the stuff you do is easily copy and pasted in a text editor. Then you can go back and make attribute value changes as you need. RE: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse?
IBM WebSphere Studio Application/Site Developer (not free) has a struts plugin. It has a editor (Web Diagram Editor) that you can use for visualizing application flow, in addition to alot of other stuff. I can only find a tech preview blurb on it: http://www7b.software.ibm.com/wsdd/downloads/struts_tools.html It has been released (GA'ed) with WSSD.. as of last Nov. See: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/awdtools/studioappdev/ http://www-3.ibm.com/software/awdtools/studiositedev/ Trial version of WSAD is available (just search www.ibm.com) and a white paper on how to write a simple struts app using it. http://www7b.boulder.ibm.com/wsdd/techjournal/0302_fung/fung.html Ying RE: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse? * From: Alban Soupper * Subject: RE: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse? * Date: Mon, 03 Mar 2003 04:19:49 -0800 Console is not bad, but in fact I would like something that can graphically represent my pages interractions Because in a large application the actions, forms, jsp are very soon interlaced and the application behaviour is not really clear... -Original Message- From: Dejan Krsmanovic [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: lundi, 3. mars 2003 11:49 To: Struts Users Mailing List Subject: Re: What is the best struts plugin for Eclipse?
