Re: still Beta 2

2017-01-08 Thread Hartley Horwitz
My wife and I have done some basic testing on the latest beta. Testing has
been limited to downloading new dives (on USB), editing the dives, adding
photos, equipments, tags etc.No testing of the Facebook features or
printing.

My wife's setup: Mac OS Sierra, Oceanic Pro Plus 3. Local file storage.
My setup: Windows, Sherwood Wisdom 1. Cloud file storage. I also use the
Subsurface IOS App and I've been able to confirm my new dives show up.

We haven't played around with the planner on the latest beta. I did so in
November but that was on an older build.

It's pretty hard to do that right. Because we'd have to figure out which of the
text
is ours, which is your, and how to merge them. Think about a "just append"
version... and then the user clicks a few options on and off and on and off.
So that clearly isn't a good solution... what we do now is maybe slightly
annoying,
but at least it gives you easy to understand results. And give how little that
feature
appears to be used (we get maybe a handful of hits on the FB API a week), I
don't want to invest too much work into it.

Hmm. Interesting. I noticed some oddities with units as well, but didn't follow
up.
It should pick the units you used the last time you saved to the cloud. Could
someone play with this and try to figure out the pattern of what it's getting
wrong?

It is the normal export dialog, ctrl-e as keyboard shotcut. Not sure about the

Facebook sharing is working fine. Guess if I had to suggest one thing is
that when one of the ckeckbox options is chosen, it doesn't wipe out what
has been typed in the box to the right manually. I thought it would append
and not wipe out my comments.

I cannot find an option to upload to Divelogs.de. I see the option to
import from, but no way to save/export to.

Connection to Subsurface cloud appears to be working well. I was able to
access all my dives through the web service. Only anomaly I noticed is all
values are Imperial except for temperature. I use Imperial in Subsurface
desktop. GPS locations are being saved fine and bring up Google Maps when
clicked on.

UI interactions are working as expected. I haven't been taking pictures
lately. Not able to test that functionality.

Printing is working. Little nit-picky is the drop down menu when selecting
the layout, it would make a little more logical sense to display One Dive,
Two Dives, Six Dives,... in sequential order.

Did some bt-testing with a OSTC4 and it mostly worked. This was with
pre-built Qt5.7 binaries, and bluez 5.41. (Ubuntu 16.10)

The firmware upgrade check code I blindly wrote didn't work, due to the
version number format, but I'll fix that.

About half of the strings we emit from the OSTC4 are bogus, so I'll
need do send some patches for that to.

I'll see if I can find a Windows machine to test some bt stuff on to.

I've put a pull request with your recent addition to faq, to test

Tracking changes in github seems much easier than in the web page, and
translating in an text editor much more than on that divi thing :-)

Based on Stefan's smart suggestion I added some code to the backend. Please
manually
check for an update on Windows or Mac from within 4.5.6 (or an earlier RELEASE
binary).
You should learn that you are running the latest release AND get a pointer to
the latest beta...

There is that, of course. In the northern hemisphere there may be some people

true...
Still, they should be THINKING about diving. And about testing Subsurface.

OK, so that's a USB device, not BT. One of my concerns is our BT support - I'm
hoping that the newer version of Qt that I switched to won't give us any
regressions, but of course you never know...

I think the preferences bug should be fixed now. There was an odd interaction
between the deco algorithm set in the planner and set in the dive log. We track
those separately, but there was a situation where the wrong preference could
end up being used.

Thanks for all your help testing this. Very much appreciated.

I can use my current logs to test much of the other functionality. Not sure
what my issues it with subsurface-mobile on my android based Samsung S7,

Do you still have your Petrel? Could you test with that? Also, could you test

That's how it's supposed to work. I need to figure out why it isn't. Of course
