You're right, same here. This is the sort of stuff you'll be getting really
sick of as we lusers get more and more spoiled :)

it got inserted today, or the mess with the RNFs and 523 lost it
somewhere... I can get Cruft and FF.

Trunk CVS is now build 600. Minor fix that should greatly reduce
problems with RouteNotFound; we are increasing the build number to allow
for changes to the stable version. The stable rel-0-5-0 branch is now
build 524, with the same fix. Please upgrade, especially you Debolaz.

Just passing this case along, I've been testing runnning available
JVM's for Windoze XP and as far as i can tell all of Sun's 131 and up

IBM's with the 523 current simply doesn't. It was fine until now.
It consistently gets Java io errors on node connect authentication.

How frequent is this? It shouldn't occur more than once in every 65536

These usually simply mean that the browser has moved on to another page
and not loaded all the images in the first one.

Hmmm... They appear _before_ I have a chance of moving to another page. See
below.

IE has a habit of obscuring error messages. Try in mozilla, or ANY other
non-IE-based browser, they should give you a more helpful error message.

Ok, I've tried it in Opera 6.05. The front page hadn't finished loading by
itself - I had to press "Stop" to make it to appear (again, it loaded
without any images). The same happens on some other pages as well... It
seems like the response from Freenet just dies after transferring the first
few kilobytes. Also, with Opera I got another error message littering the
log file:

17:04:32 I/O error in servlet java.io.CharConversionException: Not an ISO
8859-1 character: ?

Strange, no? I've tried Sun 1.4.1_01 JRE, results hadn't changed. I'm
thinking maybe freenet doesn't like an international version of Java? I'll
check this later.

Also, with Opera, clicking on links to, i.e., TFE, doesn't lead to immediate
browser error, but, rather, stalls indefinitely (like, for 10 minutes). No
messages in a log file with logging set to Normal. I'll try it set to Debug,
let's hope it will give some meaningful information.

Are you using a beta JVM?

These usually simply mean that the browser has moved on to another page
and not loaded all the images in the first one.

IE has a habit of obscuring error messages. Try in mozilla, or ANY other
non-IE-based browser, they should give you a more helpful error message.

Just use fproxy to insert. The file will be automatically split.

FCPtools will not do this; you need to use fishtools or fproxy.

[freenet-support] Build 523 - still doesn't work

2002-10-25 Thread Victor Denisov
For a couple of builds now I can't use freenet. The following message fills
freenet.log when I try to access the web interface (below is just a small
example):

25.10.2002 12:30:09
(freenet.interfaces.servlet.MultipleHttpServletContainer, QThread-8): I/O
error in servlet
25.10.2002 12:30:09
(freenet.interfaces.servlet.MultipleHttpServletContainer, QThread-8): I/O
error in servlet
25.10.2002 12:30:09
(freenet.interfaces.servlet.MultipleHttpServletContainer, QThread-8): I/O
error in servlet
25.10.2002 12:30:09
(freenet.interfaces.servlet.MultipleHttpServletContainer, QThread-8): I/O
error in servlet

All interface pages come up without graphics, and if I click on links
leading to Freenet sites on the front page I immediately get IE error saying
that "server cannot be found".

I'm using Sun JRE 1.3.1 on Windows 2000 w/ SP3.

I've downloaded and installed freenet 0.5 rc1, build 523 - it shows exact
same bug. Any suggestions?

Regards,
Victor Denisov.

hm, you are right show me a failsafe program or algorithm
but xml would be SO nice :[
and given the dtd every user knows which elements are accepted. right now i can patch
the metadata by inserting unknown keywords, too

i saw there was no positive feedback on this idea, so i just try to comfort with this
and do not annoy anymore...

[freenet-support] 2 questions

2002-10-25 Thread Sagesser Lukas
1. about every time i reload the node status page on port 8889, the
status seems to have completely changed. it switches from "rejecting in
coming requests" through "rejecting ALL incoming requests" to no remark
at all (what seems to be how it should be :), every few seconds.
and the performance percentage jumps from 40% to 130% and back in the
same time..

2. what do i do with the heisenbug PANIC message? just wait and ignore
and leave it to the developers ? (since its seems to be a JVM intern
error) or can i do something to help clarify the circumstances of the
error?

greetins,
ls
