freenet activity

2019-11-27 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
I decided to install freenet again.
An article in the newspaper inspired me to look at non oppressed internet
solutions.
When I look at Enzo’s index I see it has been generated on June 20, 2016, that
is a long time ago.
Is freenet dead?
If so are there other developments of darknet systems?
Or if freenet is not dead where did evryone go?

[freenet-support] With the update: The downloads are gone Again

2011-05-16 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

With this new update. My downloads are gone again. Also the list of recent
uploads is empty. And the database of my flog is gone.
Maybe I should disable automatic updates. It would be nice to be able to run a
backup of freenet before the update.
Regards,

Jelbert

Re: [freenet-support] Japanese-language Identities

2011-05-09 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi Daxter,

I have the same problem. As soon as any WoT related tasks are happening the
computer gets very bussy for a very long time. Making a new identety is
impossible. Browsing works fine or other not WoT related activities.

Re: [freenet-support] Wot broken

2011-05-06 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
I already got the note that the database might been broken. So I tried to open
it wich did not work.
Then I deleted te WoT database and started up agian. I did have to create a new
identity :((
The node acts weired. When I restart it the floghelper does not want to load.
In the menu there is
the last item floghelper, anyway (but not in the list of plugins) but when
cliched it tells it can not
connect to the database. If I let the node reload the pluging from freenet that
works and then
there are two menu options floghelper in the menu. Both of them work.
When I try to generate a net identity the request and insert URI are displayed,
so i note them down.
When I click Create it Java cpu usage goes to 122% (just as high as it can get)
and sometimes drops
a bit to 85% but stays high. This goes on for hours. In the end no new
identitie is created.

I deleted everything in the plugins dir and after that the node started to
download evrything agian.
At the end of it the node still had the weired behavior as described above.
Is it time to reinstall this node? What files do I need to save in order to
keep my keys, identities and flog?

Regards,
Jelbert

[freenet-support] seednode

2011-05-06 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

Finally got my 50/50Mbit fiber. I would like to start a seed node but what kind
of
cpu load could I expect from that? Can I use this node also for my regular
freenet?
I was planning to use a mac mini C2D 1.83GHz.

The ip of my node is assigned by dhcp and if the modem is powered off it gets a
new ip. If that could be a probelem are there any solutions for that?

Jelbert

Re: [freenet-support] Wot broken

2011-05-02 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

So I tried to not load it in next start up. That does not work, it tries to
load anyway.
Delete /plugins/WebofTrust.jar and load version from freenet. No resolve.

I feel like trying to repair a TV without schematic or any idea how it should
work exept for the on/off switch.

Remover weboftrust from loadplugins line in freenet.ini Now at startup WoT does
not try to load.
now I get: The plugin FlogHelper could not be loaded:
java.lang.NullPointerException That is not so
strange, it needs WoT to work.
Now try to load WoT again. No resolve still: The plugin WebOfTrust could not be
loaded: address: 15130105, length : 696140, id : 14324203
Shutdown freenet again and edit freenet.ini to include WoT again.
So I thought lets remove something that does not work anyway (not for me
anyway) : Freemail. Unload, remove from cache. Restart freenet
and there he loads freemail again. Gets the thing from somewhere. And again he
reports the WoT WonT load.
I give up. Normally in electronics I would go radical by now and start from
scratch, I have however no idea how this device works so better shut the thing
down and walk away before I get angry...
Maybe I should go and water the garden or something.

[freenet-support] Wot broken

2011-05-01 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi Mathew,

The Wot plugin will not load. I tried downloading it again over freenet or
internet and restart and try again but no help.
What can I do to fix this?
I wanted to include the logs but that was too big for this newsgroup.
Below is the short version: Only the lines where the strin weboftrust occurs:

For an other thing. I like freenet very much (for me it is a safe place and
feels like a vilage) and I appriciate the work you and the others do. Is there
a way to support you?

Thanx,

Jelbert

Re: [freenet-support] Freenet 0.7.5 build 1365

2011-04-21 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi Mathew,

My entire filestore and all ongoing downloads have dissapeard. I'm not sure if
it happaned with the upgrade or the day before. Yesterday I added a file to
download and that is now the only one and it is in the list of the failed
download it is a pdf. The datastore folder is 5.44GB. The entire freenet folder
is 6GB.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Java now runs sometimes at 116% cpu on a mac mini (c2d 1.83) osx 10.6.6. I have
no idea what he needs al that cpu power for.

Re: [freenet-support] No messages on freetalk

2011-04-17 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Solved.
Something went wrong with the instal of the new version. I removed freetalk and
the cache and also WoT and its cache ,restarted the node, and installed the
plugins again.
Created a new identity and I could see the othet users dircectly out of the
box. Solved the capchas and everything works.

[freenet-support] please help

2011-04-13 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

Somehow I can not see others messages on freetalk and please do not descard
this as an rtfm problem, if there only was a manual...
At this moment I have 3 identities in freetalk, 2 old ones and a new one. The 2
old ones I created during the previous version of freetalk
an the new one 5 days ago.
With none of the identities I can see the messages of others exept me and :
argent_smith
USK@nsaROfn~KA6yQxf0nvnHi9GgSqIdUsm4Eh3wpe5FoKc,M4TOWCvA7BOl3SxyZFgaOt--Cz85AIsI4H8ffcs282w,AQACAAE/WebOfTrustRC1/54
I also can not see my recent addition identity.

How is it that I can not see the messages of others exept argent_smith?
Should it not be that a 'new' user/identity can see the messages of others but
not publish messages until his trust is validated? In this way it is very
frustrating.
What can I do to resolve this?
Thanks,

Jelbert

[freenet-support] Is freenet a Geek only system?

2011-02-07 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

I'm running OSX 10.6.6 and i'm new to the applications like FMS and Freetalk
and the others that are not prebuild for OSX. Over the las couple of years I
have had several installations of freenet but every time the ammount of
geekyness needed to make it run scared me away. Now I have a mac mini that can
be a node 24/7 without making lots of noise. So now I want to take a shot at
the geekyness nessecery to get things to work. The first thing is getting FMS
to work or if that system is outdated can somone point met to what to use.
I got the source fms-src-0.3.57 and cmake 2.6.0 and updated darwin and got
poco. That should be the ingedients for a nice soup.
But when I try to make it this happens:

cmake -D USE_BUNDLED_SQLITE=ON I_HAVE_READ_THE_README=ON .
-- Configuring done
-- Generating done
-- Build files have been written to: /Users/ikke/Downloads/poco/fms-src-0.3.57

[freenet-support] How to set the datastore to a different disk on osx

2009-05-19 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Hi,

I run freenet on osx and want to have freenet on a different drive
from the startup disk. However during the installation of freenet I
can only select the startup disk as destination for freenet. Is it
possible to install freenet on a different drive or have the data
store on a different location from the startup disk?

[freenet-support] How does a Freenet newbie get Freenet friends to become invisible

2008-09-09 Thread Jelbert Holtrop
Would it be possible to run a freenet node in a datacenter, that node
will be set up to run with strangers. If I and my friends ( in a dark
net) add that node as a friend we are alle connected to freenet and
our identity is secure.
If I would make such a setup what would be the ammount of data
bandwidth (the total amount of send and received data a day/month )
needed for such a node? Is it possible to fix the maximum amount of
bandwith used? I would not like to receive a bill for going over my
quota.
