Actually it would be very wise to upgrade at least to 2k, not only because of freenet. Remember 9x isn't supported anymore, so there hasn't been enough security patches for a long time. Did you do a fresh node install or did you just upgrade the freenet.jar. If you did a fresh install be shure to check that the listen port can be accessed from the outside, so check any type of firewall or nat you are running. If you only upgraded the jar you may need to reseed your node. In that case stop your node, go to http://www.freenetproject.org/snapshots download the seednodes.ref file, copy it over the one in your freenet directory and restart the node. [freenet-support] reseed
just an FYI to Kevin Steen, Jay Oliveri and Toad. Prior to the reformat I was using ver. 5090 and I had no problems at all accessing anything I wanted to . Freenet was working perfectly. It was only after the reformat that my current problems began. I do not think it is in any way related 5091 or my modem as there were no problems prior. I am using the same hardware, the same software etc. as before when I could get freenet to work. I am convinced that if I made the appropriate changes in default.ini and / or in freenet.ini my problems would be solved. The big however, is that I am not sure what changes I should make. So maybe you are correct Kevin when you say that broadband would help. I think so - so ZoneAlarm is reporting that all of these applications are trying to access port on 127.0.0.1 What is by the way? It is almost always perfectly safe for software to connect to ports on ip 127.0.0.1. A lot of software services are listening on specific ports and one way for applications running on the same computer to communicate with each other is to create connections to 127.0.0.1:SOME PORT Perhaps you changed your Zone Alarm settings when you installed Freenet, and now it is simply reporting more connections than it used to? I think the default settings for Zone Alarm do not bother reporting connections to 127.0.0.1 as that simply means applications on your PC are communicating with each other, and it's usually perfectly safe. d ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://dodo.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://dodo.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

A download that's been stuck for hours in FUQID will often complete within a few minutes just after restarting the node. My guess is that this is related to the failure table, and that restarting the node clears the FT and lets the requests pass, where they subsequently succeed. Back when I was doing a DBR freesite, I'd restart the node before trying to insert, it wouldn't complete otherwise. There does seem to be something about a restart, after allowing some time to get a good number of connections, that's better than a tired node. On unstable, it doesn't seem to make a difference lately whether the node has been up for 18 hours or whether it was just started, everything is very smooth. -s ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://dodo.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ Support mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.freenet.support Unsubscribe at http://dodo.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/support Or mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have asked this question before with no answer so I am asking again. I have 50 node references in my RT. So why are only one or two being contacted or at times none at all? I reseed regularly. The request couldn't even make it off of your node. Try again, perhaps with the GPL to help your node learn about others. The publicly available seed nodes have been very busy lately. If possible try to get a friend to give you a reference to their node instead. Route Not Found messages mean that your node, or the rest of the network, didn't find the data or enough nodes to send the request to. You should retry, with the same Hops-To-Live; if it persists, there may be a problem (check that your internet connection is working).
