[pfSense Support] Feature request - Installer logo/details

2008-07-17 Thread Paul Cockings
Instead of trying to 're-brand' pfsense with themes/skins etc how about
a provision in a future release to include an area where the person who
is installing/maintaining the pfsense box can upload there own
logo/contact/support details?Mabye space for a 300x200 logo, and a
text area for details. This would not effect a default install, any
credit to the pfsense team, or trouble in-place upgrading. The logo and
details could be stored as part of the backup routine.

If your hell bent on taking the credit from pfsense then your free to
customise a theme etc, but I think 99% of users would be happy with this
feature suggestion, allowing both parties represent there efforts.

 Hi

Do you have an official Powered by Pfsense logo, that I can put on our
 website? www.fiberby.dk

Not at this time, it would be something nice to have available if
someone more graphically-inclined than myself could put one together.

I stole one from your websites header, and merged it with one I got from
Manuel Kasper at monowall. I hope this is alright. If not please write back.
You can take a look at www.fiberby.dk

Kind regards Anders

[pfSense Support] Tracking Individual Users

2008-07-17 Thread Ryan Rodrigue
I know there was a thread similar to this, but I started a new message
because I don't feel it is the same.

Is there any way anyone knows of to get a list of who went were on PFsense?
I mainly would like to log traffic per user. If it did a resolution of the
websites name instead of IP, that would be great also. What my goal is is
to just keep an eye on where my kids are going on the internet. I'd like to
get an easy to understand list. PF may do this already, but if it does, I
don't know where. I think this can be done with squid, but I am using CF
(full install of CF) and have heard that squid isn't good for CF. I really
don't want it to slow down my connection either if possible. Thanks for all
of your help, This is a great product.

Centipede networks sponsored a project for 1.3 that makes rebranding
pfSense builds extremely easy. In 1.3 and beyond, its simply a matter
of changing a single configuration file option and putting in your own
theme(s). From there you can build your own re-branded pfSense images
as you normally would. It's really that simple.

[pfSense Support] RRD Graphs problem.

2008-07-17 Thread Jose Hernandez
Hi there,

I have created a couple of new queues in the traffic shaper, and now when I
try the RDD graph for the queue it fails, asking you to look at the system
logs, the system logs say as follows,

Jul 17 16:51:43 php: /status_rrd_graph_img.php: Creating rrd update script

Jul 17 16:51:42 php: /status_rrd_graph_img.php: failed to create graph from
/var/db/rrd/wan-queues.rrd, removing database

Jul 17 16:51:42 php: /status_rrd_graph_img.php: Failed to create graph with
error code 1, the error is: ERROR: No DS called 'qOthersUpM' in
'/var/db/rrd/wan-queues.rrd'

I was hoping that at some point the rrd db files would get auto generated
with the new queues, is this the case? How can I solve this issue otherwise?

Regards

Unfortunately this will not work. The graphs only work with the default shaper.

[pfSense Support] configuring pfsense

2008-07-17 Thread John R Puhalski

Hi,
I'm new to the list and to pfsense. I purchased a firewall/router with
pfsense installed and working but there are couple things I would like to
do but dont know how.

First is to be able to turn off internet access at night. I used to do
that with my linksys router under Internet Access options, putting in the
times I want it to turn off then back on again. Can I do something like
that up with pfsense?

I would also like to block IRC chat. could that be done?

And is there a way to update my dynamic IP address? I use openDNS and
have a windows program that does it but that computer is not always
running. It would be much better if I could do it with pfsense.

thanks for the help.

2008-07-17 Thread Curtis LaMasters
First you will need to create a schedule, then you will need to create an
firewall rule for the LAN interface that blocks destination port TCP/80 and
assign that schedule to it.

To block IRC create a firewall rule on the LAN interface that blocks (deny)
port TCP/6667 from any to any.

For Dynamic DNS, I also use OpenDNS but have it getting updates from my
account setup on pfSense with Zoneedit.

Great, thanks for the help. I'm not sure I know how to do those things
but will give it a try.
