AW: [pfSense Support] Over 2GB File can not copy LAN to WAN Pfsense

2010-09-08 Thread Rabeendran, Rajeevan
Hello

It doesn't help when i check the Clear invalid DF bits instead of
dropping the packets and Firewall Optimization Options to Conservative
option:-(

Regards and thank you

I thought there was about a 2GByte file size limit on Ext2 File systems
too.

 Definitely try that.

pfsense has a workaround specifically for NFS on System: Advanced:
Firewall and NAT (system_advanced_firewall.php). Did you try checking
the Clear invalid DF bits instead of dropping the packets option?

You may also need to set the Firewall Optimization Options to
 Conservative on the same page.

Also try disabling scrub under SystemAdvanced.

Re: [pfSense Support] Benchmark tool

2010-09-08 Thread Seth Mos
Hi,

Op 7 sep 2010, om 21:24 heeft bsd het volgende geschreven:

 Results are somewhat similar…

My main question is why when filtering is enabled do we loose 75% of the
 throughput…

When i benchmarked the atom D510 I got in the office last week with 6 intel
nics I had 480mbit throughput with pf enabled, and 210mbit in full duplex. So
maybe a bios update could possibly fix this.

One of the thing to keep in mind is ofcourse that no Atom mainboard is the
same, although they do commonly share the ICH8 or ICH9 or even the ICH9R on the
supermicro. How many pci-e lanes they connect to the nics can differ between
boards and models.

Here is the benchmarks I did on that specific box.
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,27780.msg144750.html#msg144750

Is this normal figures or not ?

It should possibly be faster.

Regards,

Seth

Re: [pfSense Support] PFsense 2.0 roadmap

2010-09-08 Thread Tonix (Antonio Nati)

Thanks... I see no dates at all.

About 2.0, I see no documentation around. Is there a list where to ask
for 2.0 features explained?

I see a lot of new things, sometimes hard to understand.

Thanks,

Tonino

When stable version is planned to be released?

Closest thing to a roadmap is here:
http://redmine.pfsense.org/projects/pfsense/roadmap

The release will happen when it's ready, but hopefully that translates
to sometime later this year.

Generally speaking, the forum is where most discussion around 2.0
happens, from what I have seen.

This when is 2.0 being released as stable? is a question I often want
to ask but then stop myself because it has been addressed many times. We
all want it sooner than later. This is the impact lack of funds has on
schedules. Let's pledge some money to get it done faster, I'm in for
USD 50. Would someone like to organize a collection?

Correct. No dates. It will be ready when it's ready. :)

I see a lot of new things, sometimes hard to understand.

The doc wiki has a lot of information, but I do need to update some of
the articles.

On every screen in 2.0 there is a help link (?). It takes you to the
wiki page that has information about the feature or section you are using.

You can get a list of 2.0-specific articles here:
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Category:2.0

There is info on 2.0 in more pages than that, but those tend to be for
the new features or things that didn't exist yet in 1.2.x.

[pfSense Support] redirect issues with pfsense 2.0 captive portal

2010-09-08 Thread Atkins, Dwane P
We are doing some testing with pfsense 2.0 BETA,
pfSense-2.0-BETA4-20100906-2129.iso. The Server is a Dell PowerEdge R200.

We were having issues. We can see the user talking to DNS, but we cannot see
DNS come back in. We have the DNS servers defined in the General Setup and
also have ensure that both the 10.x.x.x (private side user and default gateway
subnet) and the 172.31.x.x/29 (public side) are permitted to access the DNS
servers.

Did some research and one pfsense users said they reset to Factory default,
which I did and reconfigured the device as oppose to restoring it. Once done
and prior to adding certificates, I could get the captive portal login page. I
added our certificate, key and intermediate certificate and check the Enable
HTTPS Login. At this point, pfsense appears to have stopped communicating with
the DNS server. On the test Captive Portal user machine, I could no longer
accomplish a NSLOOKUP. It appears that pfsense has stopped authorizing access
to the DNS devices coming back.

Is there a way to fix this? Has anyone experienced this issue before on
pfsense 2.0 Beta?

I am not sure I explained this very well so if there is more information
needed, please let me know.

Dwane
