[pfSense Support] L2TP

2010-04-21 Thread Paolo Supino
Hello

I've installed PFSense 1.2.3 on a computer that I want to put as a gateway
(instead of my crappy ADSL modem). I use L2TP protocol to authenticate to my
ISP and connect to the Internet. Going through the menus in the
WebConfigurator I can see that PFSense supports PPPoE and PPTP protocols to
connect to the Internet, but there's no LT2P option. Searching Google and
the forums I found only references to PFSense acting as a L2TP server, but
not as a client ... Am I missing something or is my conclusion that there's
no LT2P client supprt n PFSense 1.2.3 correct? Is there support for L2TP
Client in version 2 (I didn't try it yet)?

There isn't yet an L2TP WAN type in pfSense 2.0 either, just the server.
It's all done with mpd, though, so it might be possible.

That is beyond the scope of this mailing list. I meant that someone
familiar with pfSense internals and mpd's config file format could
probably add a WAN type for L2TP if there were enough interest.

[pfSense Support] L2TP From Behind pfSense

2006-04-18 Thread Brian
I am trying to make an L2TP connection to a remote Sonicwall from behind
pfSense. Yesterday from a dial up connection I was able to establish
the L2TP connection without any issues. Today I am behind the pfSense @
my office and I am not able to make the connection. I am guessing I am
missing a firewall rule or 2, but I am not sure. I've enabled IPSec on
the pfSense, which I thought created the default rules for allowing the
IPSec traffic, but it still does not work. I first tried without IPSec
enabled on the pfSense, which also did not work.

Do I need more / other rules for this or perhaps a NAT entry to forward
traffic to my laptop?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

As we do not have NAT-Passthrough for these types of items, I don't
see it working, if at all.
