Re: AW: [pfSense Support] CARP NIC overhead?
Thanks for that Martin. As it turns out GBit is something we need so I'd be interested if Scott has any comment on support of GBit NICs (Intel or otherwise). Regards, Steve Cambridge, UK. Well, have a look at multiport NIC's. I've set up my system with 2-port Intel NICs and tried out 4-port NICs too... They work well and pfSense supports up to 32 NICs... so there should be no problem for you to get it up and running ! :-) Martin Von: Steve Harman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Mittwoch, 21. From reading the tutorial, am I right in thinking that this would require a NIC dedicated to the CARP functionality? We need to provide a number of subnets so combined with the CARP NIC I'm trying to work out how many PCI slots (PC NICs) we need in each box! Look at: Intel PWLA8492MT (dual port) Intel PWLA8494MT (quad port) those should be very common and easy to come by, and will work. I didn't say cheap though. :) They aren't too horribly expensive, dual port is about $250 USD, quad about $400 USD (from a quick Froogle search, you can probably find better than that). Heck of a lot more expensive than 2 or 4 individual gig NIC's though. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: AW: [pfSense Support] CARP NIC overhead?
Ill also add this: http://inteleval.ententeweb.com/store.asp Thats direct from Intel under the eval program, they have added several new adapters since last time I bought from them. When I purchased my last set they were the cheapest I could find! Quad Port Gig-E card is $287damn cheap On Wednesday 21 June 2006 11:18, Scott Ullrich wrote: On 6/21/06, Steve Harman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thanks for that Martin.
