Problems connecting

Hi, Pidgin just stopped connecting (with my Yahoo account).  It hanging
saying "connecting".never does.  I can connect to my account at
yahoo.com.

 

I tried upgrading to 2.5.6 - same issue.

error during setup

Dear sir,

I downloaded the setup file for windows XP.
When I opened the file for the first time, the setup process began
and everything looked fine.
Apparently,  an error occurred during the process and it wasn't completed.
When I tried to launch the setup again by opening the file, the
following error message appeared:

*"c:\pidgin-2.5.6.exe*
**
*Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was
completed. "*

This message prevents me from re-installing the program, and the only
component that's seemed to be installed at the moment is the Java Plug-in.
I tried to reboot my computer and to download the file again, but both
attempts didn't seem to work.

can connect OK using the "official" Yahoo IM application.


With the Pidgin debug window enabled, I disable my Yahoo account then 
enable it.  Here is the relevant info:

Pidgin Stopped Working on Yahoo?

Hi,

 

My Pidgin has stopped working with Yahoo IM for the past two days, it just
stays with the button saying "connecting".

 

- I upgraded to 2.5.6 but it makes no difference. 

- Microsoft Messenger works fine through Pidgin

- I tried turning off my firewall (F-Secure) but it makes no difference

- I can logon ok with Yahoo's client

 

I am running Windows XP Pro, live in the UK and all my other connectivity
appears fine.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated!

a long time and my yahoo contacts have always worked, but yesterday and
today (after I very recently updated to 2.5.6) my other contacts will
load, but yahoo won't.

 

Is yahoo experiencing issues?  I'd ask them, but their website is a bit

I noticed yesterday that my Yahoo contacts disappeared.  I use yahoo
chat through Pidgin at my office on a daily basis and have not ever had
a problem with it before.  Yesterday and today I am unable to get the
list of yahoo contacts and my status continually says connecting.  I do
have access to my gmail buddy list and have no problem chatting through
this account.  I have changed no settings to cause anything to change
prior to having this problem.  Please help!

I do have access to my gmail buddy list and have no problem chatting 
through this account.  I have changed no settings to cause anything to 
change prior to having this problem.  Please help!

Yahoo cannot connect

I cannot connect to Yahoo through Pidgin, but I can connect through WEB. While 
attempting to connect through Pidgin, it shows the status as only "Connecting", 
but gives no error or anything.
 
I tried with 2.5.2 and the lastest version of Pidgin, but nothing happens!

I recall that within the past few months there was a login issue with one 
of the supported protocols (MSN?), and subsequently there was a note on 
the main pidgin.im website about the issue.

really begin helping you with your issue.


However, there is a known issue with the Yahoo IM procotol right now, 
which does provide intermittent service for clients attempting to connect.

Hi,
I am using Pidgin 2.5.6. This is on Windows XP SP2.

For the last two days, I cannot connect to Yahoo. Nothing has changed at my end 
in terms of Firewall etc.

I looked thru the FAQs and tried changing the Pager port# to the various 
choices listed. Still no good.
My Pager server is: scs.msg.yahoo.com

Can you suggest what I could do to get this up and running ?

Hey!
First I have to say that I am a former MirandaIM User when I had a WIN32 
machine and I was happy about it. Now I use Pidgin on a Xubuntu machine 
and it makes me as happy as MirandaIM. Actually it is even better and 
makes me happier because Pidgin is easier to use and to set up than 
MirandaIM.


However there are some functions that MirandaIM has but that I can't 
find or miss when is use Pidgin.


Firstly I can't find any option to disable the groups generally. Maybe I 
am blind. However I searched it for weeks every now and then. I actually 
never used the groups in the past so my contacs are very unsorted now. 
If the list is alphabetical and divides between online and offline 
contacts I am totally glad. Groups are overestimated.


Secondly MirandaIM is able to set differnt away stati (btw is this 
plural form right? I am German and we decline the Latin way ^^) for the 
different protocols. I miss this too because traditionally I get more 
spammed on ICQ than on MSN. So I like to be invisible on ICQ while it is 
annoing on MSN since you can't write messages on MSN while you are 
invisible. Actually that is more a problem of the MSN protocol but Bill 
Gates wouldn't listen to me. So you must ;).

Yahoo not connecting

I have everything setup correctly, but today for some reason no one using 
Yahoo msgr can see me as online, and I see no Yahoo contacts in my buddy 
window. If I try to add new ones nothing happens. no error, nothing.

All things look to be setup correctly. I installed Yahoo msgr just to see 
if it would work and it does. I have since disabled it so as not to 
conflict.

Ideas?

For approximately the last week Pidgin has been unable to connect to my
Yahoo IM account.  I have repeated tried to monkey with the settings and
have re-set my password etc but am still unable to connect to Yahoo.  It was
connecting perfectly well prior to this week for years and I did not change
anything to my knowledge.  What can I do?
