Hi. I'm a user of the Pidgin instant messaging software, but I don't
know how to use it, in particular:

[I'm confused about how a user can not know how to use it, maybe a
mistranslation.)

-Comment ajouter mes contacts(toujours masqué)

How to add a contact (they are always hidden(?)).

-Comment envoyer un message instantané

How to send an instant message.

-Comment savoir si mes contactes yahoo son disponibles ou connectés

How to know whether my Yahoo contacts are ?? or online.

-Le programme se connecte et se déconnecte seul à tout moment en
affichant ceci : « Connexion perdue avec le serveur : L'interlocuteur a
fermé la connexion »

The program spontaneously(?) connects and disconnects, producing this
message: Connection with server lost : the network/other party(?) has
closed the connection.

Spontaneous connection losses sounds like a proxy policy issue.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.

There is insufficient information to do anything. It presumably works
for most people.

2009-09-05 Thread Chris DiGregorio
I am unable to send files via Pidgin to another Pidgin user. We both
are using the same protocols (AIM Google, which is XMPP) and both of
us have put Pidgin as an exception for our respective firewalls. I am
running on Windows XP Home Edition and she is running on Vista Home
Edition. Please help.

How do I turn off updates for one user but not all the others?

2009-09-05 Thread Bradj47

I installed a Twitter plugin and I don't want it to make a sound whenever
someone tweets. I do want the popup to notify me, just without the noise.
However, I do want to hear sounds when someone IM's me with another protocol
or someone logs on. How do I do this?

Here's some information on my system that might be needed:
Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope
Pidgin 2.6.1 76c08f9df332fb22059ada8287a5da4b7a1d37fa

Thanks,
Brad

Who is the author of the plugin? If it isn't part of the standard
Pidgin distribution you will need to seek support according to the
plugin's contact details.

While the twitter plugin may be a third-party plugin and the Pidgin
developers do not support third-party plugins, configuring per-user
sound notifications is pretty much squarely outside of a protocol
plugin's functionality.

That said, this isn't possible in Pidgin itself. The third-party Smart
Ear plugin may help (although I don't know if it has the ability to do
per-*account* configuration.) See the ThirdPartyPlugins page on
Pidgin's wiki for information on it. http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ThirdPartyPlugins

That's because you're running Windows Vista. I had that problem with
other applications in Vista. Not XP as much but it still happened. You
could be experiencing a different problem than me but I'm replying with
my experiences.

Best regards,
Brad
