Yes, that's probably the "problem" (well, actually it's a bug in the
code then). The code checks if the function "GetOutlookVersion" is
present in the mapi32.dll to see if the DLL is current enough (on old
systems like Win9x, there could be a DLL installed that did not support
Simple MAPI the way SeaMonkey uses it, so SeaMonkey had to replace it).
AFAIK this worked fine with the original mapi32.dll coming with IE 5.5,
6, 7 and various Outlook (Express) versions, but seems like this check
fails Groupwise as already noted in the bug. With SeaMonkey 2 this will
no longer be a problem as we never overwrite the mapi32.dll file in the
system folder. Thanks for testing.

Forwarding messages

2009-04-11 Thread keith_w
I have rarely been able to forward a message I received to someone else,
exactly as I received it.

In other words, as I have experienced it, if all I was forwarding was a full
text message, with no embedded graphics or other non-ascii items, the message
was forwarded without any problem.

However, if that message contained graphics of any kind, static or active,
that the placement of which was critical to the accompanying text, it
wouoldn't forward. I thought I could go to Message >Forward As >Inline but the
resulting page shows the graphic position in the message body as a TEXT marker
or link, not as the original graphic.

I could Save or Copy the graphic and attach it to the sent message, but that
is not how it was sent to me. It was sent inline.

I want to be able to forward (pass it on) exactly as I received it.

Same old thing. The message appeared in the message body as text only, and

you're talking about 3 different files:

-- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbirds mapi32.dll which is
version 0.8.0.0

-- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbird's mozmapi32.dll which is

You were talking about the first 2, then later added
the third.

I never brought up the 2nd one. I mentioned I had the issue with NS, but
that was when the mapi32.dll file was copied to the system32 folder.
The OP was talking about the 2nd one, which you state isn't the case

I only talked about 1 & 3, which are different. I don't believe TB ever
placed a mapi32.dll in the system32 folder, did it? The mozmapi32.dll
in the program folder was always used.

Hrm, strange. As far as I see this, there are two places in the code
where mapi32.dll can be replaced with the SeaMonkey mozMapi32.dll:
1) On install, but only if these two conditions are met:
299 // If Mapi_backup_dll *and* the default var of
300 // HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Clients\Mail is set, then install
301 // mozMapi32.dll to the windows system dir as Mapi32.dll.
2) When setting SeaMonkey MailNews as default mail client and the
Mapi32.dll file present is some old dll (as mentioned before) or another
strange version of the DLL. Here I wonder a bit: The Mapi32.dll I have
here on Windows XP has as version "1.0.2536.0" (5.1.2600.0 as product
version) and as description "Extended MAPI 1.0 for Windows NT". You
mentioned as version "4.0.835.1374", what description does the DLL have?
I'm wondering if this is the original DLL from Windows XP or another
(3rd party?) DLL? Do you happen to have Exchange or Groupwise installed?

Frank

The mapi32.dll is microsoft:
Description: Extended MAPI 1.0 for Window NT
Company: Microsoft Corporation
File Version: 4.0.835.1374

The system had Groupwise& Exchange installed on it (since removed) and
is valid.

[...]

Frank

Confirmed. I tested with the 4.0.835.1374 mapi32.dll file today - same
way as outlined in my previous post with the 1.0.2536.0 mapi32.dll.

1.1.16 _does_ change it to the Mozilla version 0.8.0.0.
2.0a3 does not, it leaves it as 4.0.835.1374.

A. This problem has been reported by people who prefer to use
Firefox. A Windows Media Player plug-in for Firefox is available
for several versions of the Windows operating system. You can
find the free, 302K download at Port25.technet.com.

Well, I now know that there is a Windows Media Player
plug-in that is required in order to make Firefox work. I,
however, do not know the name of this plug-in after clicking the
download site. The site is located at:

http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx

I presume, based on what I read on the above web page, that the
plug-in only works with Firefox.

My next stop was to see what about:plugins would tell me if
anything. There I found "Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic
Link Library" with nine entries under MIME Type. Again, this
does not tell me much. I presume that I do have Windows Media
Player on my system and that it has nine plug-ins.

Well, that is where I am at this point. I would appreciate
any guidance anybody sends my way regarding this subject. By the
way, my system information is:

Windows XP SP-3

Regards,
Frog

hey froggy, download and install that plugin above. It works for
SM aswell as FF, and the vid plays just fine.

one other thing: when you install it, make sure SM is closed.

Thanks for your quick response--very much appreciated.

I did as you suggested and still no streaming video. I continue to
notice that Windows Media Player is not reflected any place on the
window that opens (as it attempts to play this video). The only
thing I see (as I stated in my first message) is:

I then see a new window with http://www.nps.gov-NPS Streaming Video
- Seamonkey at the top followed by a second line containing nps.gov.
No streaming video is present.

Could it be that it is attempting to open in something other than
Windows Media Player? Is so, how do I fix this? I so see Windows
Media Player listed under Start>All Programs. When I click on
Windows Media Player, however, the window that appears does not look
anything like what I am seeing when I attempt to run the video.

I currently have the following Windows Media Player items
listed under Add or Remove Programs:

Windows Media Format 11 runtine Size 7.99MB

Windows Media Player 11 Size 7.99MB

Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin Size 0.29MB

Thus, it appears that Windows Media Player 11 plus the Firefox
Plugin is loaded on my system.

I checked the about:plugins arena again and have only nine plugins
listed.

Any thoughts about what I should do next?

go back into about:plugins and look for the following:

Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin and the file for that
is: np-mswmp.dll

Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin does not show in the
about:plugins list. I then did a find on np-mswmp.dll and it was not
located on my C drive.

Microsoft DRM and the file for that is: npdrmv2.dll

I did a find on npdrmv2.dll and it was located in C:\Program
Files\Windows Media Player.

Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Link Library and the file for
that is: npdsplay.dll

I did a find on npdsplay.dll and it was located in C:\Program
Files\Windows Media Player.

Microsoft DRM and the file for that is: npwmsdrm.dll

I did a find on npwmsdrm.dll and it was located in C:\Program
Files\Windows Media Player.

If you don't have any of these, then close SM, and hunt on your hard
drive for them. Once found, COPY them to the plugin directory where
SM the program is installed.

I'm not sure of myself here. Do you mean copy the files where I found
them and then paste them to c:\Program
Files\mogilla.org\SeaMonkey\plugins ? If so, what do I do about
npdrmv2.dll ? With those two answers, I think I'm good to move forward.

Now try again. Any luck this time?

yes, copy an

What, and your userContent.css does hide everything?

if you know how to find crap things on sites, then you
CAN elimiate them. For example, for me, on aol.com,
all I've got is the mail icon, which takes me to the
screenname page, and all I've got there is the login
box. On both pages I've trashed everything else. Now,
both of those pages takes a second or two to load,
instead of anywhere from 5 to 90 seconds.

Well, it does build up their data base of names/address/phone
numbers. And it constitutes a union between you and them so they
can now harass you with unwanted phone calls and trash mail. Plus
selling your name to other companies. (Not that they or any other
company would do that).

They could build up their database just as well by having you sign
up and then mailing you a pdf.

But then they could not control how many times you printed out the PDF.
Generally, the company just wants to give you ONE coupon...

There has been a problem recently with posts from mailing list users not
getting threaded properly, but I don't think that is happening here.

Raylee's responses are not prefixed with the Re: that we would expect
for a reply. There is no quoting at all.

I think he/she is simply starting a new message to reply, not realizing
that this will confuse the threaded responses, and make it harder for us
to give support. I guess we won't know unless he/she comes back to us.

SeaMonkey and Facebook

I had to join Facebook recently for some friends and relatives.

Is there anything I can do about this or is it FaceBook's programmers
