I have SP3 and my mapi32.dll version is 1.0.2536.0. The last time I had that issue was 1998, as I realized I have a backup file of the moz mapi file in the system32 folder.
the version in the windowsXP system folder is 1.0.2536.0, but the one in the SM or TB program directory is 0.8.0.0

Not really related since the one in those folders is "mozmapi32.dll".

we weren't talking about mozmapi32.dll, now were we!? :-) The version number you quoted was the windows version of mapi32.dll.

And that's why I responded to you. You said, "the version in the windowsXP system folder is 1.0.2536.0, but the one in the SM or TB program directory is 0.8.0.0" They are two completely different files.

Terry R.

you're talking about 3 different files:

-- windows mapi32.dll which is version 1.0.2536.0

-- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbirds mapi32.dll which is version 0.8.0.0

-- SeaMonkey's and Thunderbird's mozmapi32.dll which is also version 0.8.0.0

You were talking about the first 2, then later added the third.

I never brought up the 2nd one. I mentioned I had the issue with NS, but that was when the mapi32.dll file was copied to the system32 folder. The OP was talking about the 2nd one, which you state isn't the case with SM?

I only talked about 1 & 3, which are different. I don't believe TB ever placed a mapi32.dll in the system32 folder, did it? The mozmapi32.dll in the program folder was always used.
