You can test your configuration using this link:

Apparently the server is not only sniffing but also parsing the UA
string. The fails with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.18)
Gecko/20110320 SeaMonkey/2.0.13, NOT Firefox/3.6.16

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16)
Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16

Did not work for me using 'NOT FireFox/3.6.12' but DID work using
'NOT FireFox/4/0b8pre' in the string.

So i modify accordingly:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US;
rv:1.9.1.15) Gecko/20101027 NOT FireFox/4/0b8pre SeaMonkey/2.0.10
and this is not working ...

Try:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101127 Firefox/4.0b8pre

I did not prefer to change
from general.useragent.extra.seamonkey value = "SeaMonkey/2.0.10"
to general.useragent.extra.seamonkey value = ""

because it's the default. when i decide to upgrade from
"SeaMonkey/2.0.10" to "SeaMonkey/2.0.13" ... i prefer that

general.useragent.extra.seamonkey
 value became = "SeaMonkey/2.0.13"
Just i case i do a bug reporting with a correct UA.

2.2a1pre is known to have issues; and is not what our developers are

More about this profiles thing... I just read this news item:

"Google is working on a mobile application that would allow users to
snap pictures of people's faces in order to access their personal
information, a director for the project said this week."

"Google's Profiles product includes a user's name, phone number and
e-mail address. Google has not said what personal data might be
displayed once a person is identified by its facial-recognition system."

Maybe it is a *good* thing to be blocked from the site!!

autoloading of SM 1.1.18

2011-03-31 Thread Norvin
Just had to format and reload Win XP, SP3 and using SM 1.1.18. My
problem is that after a power up and sitting idle at the desktop, SM
will do an autoload without any action on my part. I remember having
this problem some years ago and was able to make a minor change to
correct it, but, alas, my memory recall is not what it used to be. I did
remember that a process (Skmail) in the task manager could be deleted
and it would take care of it for the session until another power on
sequence. Hopefully someone can remember or recall what I can't.

Thanks in advance.

John,

This is the way I understand how the "Outbox" works for SM.
1. If you have several mail accounts configured as one the Outbox folder
will contain all the messages you have sent. This is the default setting.

2. If you have configured all your mail accounts as separate accounts
and included specific folders for each account you will not have an
Outbox for any accounts. This is normal.

3. If you have subscribed to any newsgroups you will have an Outbox for
all newsgroups you have subscribed to, this is like the Sent Folder for
mail accounts.

AFAIK, that's normal behaviour. Whenever you update SM, it shows
seamonkey-project.org on its first launch (and only its first
launch) so
you can see what changes have been implemented since the last version
and so on.

So, the first time round, the "Home" setting is *NOT* the "Home" page!!

I can see the sense in directing someone to a page notifying of the
changes, but, then again, I cannot see the logic!!

The first time round, the Home setting is the same. (If you click on the
Home button you'll see.) There is just a page that comes up the first
time your run a new version, to introduce you to the new version.

Sorry, Chris, as I explained up above, I start in the Mail & Newsgroup
screen. There is no "Home" button to click until I click the button in
the bottom left which should take me to my "Home" page, but doesn't.

If when you do click on the home button, it takes you to a home page
that is different than the one you have set, that is not intended
behaviour.

The welcome page is a one-time start page, not home page.

on-line is needed ?

I am logging changes to my Windows registry and to the files on my

my E-mail client to download messages, etc, all of which would introduce
extraneous changes to the log.

I generally download software from sources that I trust. If I download

thank you for explaining
you seem to be very organized
I do thing differently, so there is no discussion to have

directly to Google.

Much better: install the User Agent Switcher and *pretend* to be IE.
I just tested this spoofing as "IE8 on Windows 7", and that profiles
link thinks it is okay. The page failed for me using Firefox 3.6.15 with
Ubuntu. I'd previously added this UA string to the app and it works:

Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0;
SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media
Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; FDM)

There is no IE on my computers.

I am logging changes to my Windows registry and to the files on my
C-drive. I don't want my clock to synchronize to external time servers,
my E-mail client to download messages, etc, all of which would introduce
extraneous changes to the log.

I generally download software from sources that I trust. If I download
from a new source, I check the downloaded file with TWO different
anti-virus applications, after updating their virus databases.

Current nightlies & ChatZilla, venkman, DOM Inspector and DebugQA

2011-03-31 Thread Robert Kaiser

Hi everyone,

Last night I landed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=627240
which makes us install ChatZilla, venkman, DOM Inspector and DebugQA
into user profiles instead of directly using them from the application
folder. They now reside in distribution/extensions in the application
folder and get copied over to the profile 1) if the application version
has changed (or the profile is new) and 2) (AFAIK) if the add-on version
in the profile is older then the one in the application.

For normal users (of betas and final versions), this means that starting
with 2.1 Beta 3, they can handle those extensions just like every other
add-on they install, they can update those from AMO without problems if
they like, they can even uninstall them from their profiles just like
every other add-on. And if they don't update them and we ship a newer
version with a SeaMonkey update, they actually get that add-on update
from our version.

So far, so good. For nightly users, this means that you might end up
with that copy into your profile not happening as it should and not
seeing the add-ons at all. When this happens, you can trigger the
add-ons check that also triggers the copy into your profile by going to
about:config and setting extensions.lastAppVersion to something else
than the current version, then restarting SeaMonkey.

Doing that, the add-ons should be back and working normally.

Unfortunately, making things better for beta/release users does in this
instance cause small inconveniences for nightly users. We have some
ideas on how this could be mitigated, but that probably will need fixes
in toolkit's add-ons manager backend.

four about the same time each day. To separate things, I copied the
Outbox icon from under the Local Folder to under the "4 massage"

So help: any way to use an Outbox per account? Or, how can I delete
that excess Icon?

Take what I say below with a grain of salt: I'm certain of nothing.

I *think* that the Outbox is used to store temporarily messages on
which
you have clicked "Send" but whose sending has not yet either succeeded
or failed. Maybe it is needed, but only for internal use by the mailer.

I *think* that a folder (which may be called Outbox if your locale is
English, but also something else if you're in a different locale) is
"an
outbox" is marked by flags set on that folder. Perhaps there is some
extension to help you see those flags, or even manipulate them.

Best regards,
Tony.

Tony, I had to go and expand my "Local Folders" account to see if it
actually had an "Outbox", as I thought the o/p may have been mis-naming
the sent folder, or maybe the "sent" folder was being mis-named the
"Outbox" in a different language version of SM.

But the "Local Folders" does have an "Outbox"and my normal mail
account doesn't have one, just the "Sent" box.

So why would I need an "Outbox" in my "Local Folders" account but not in
my normal mail account??

(Note: at work I use Outlook or Outlook Express, and it does have an
"Outbox" which does hold the outgoing messages until it is sent.)

I have only *one* outbox, and is located under the Local Folder.
If instead of "Sent Now" but "Send Later" is used ... the message goes
and stay there until i decide to later send it.

You're absolutely right, Ray!! Normally, if I want to "Send Later", I
save it as a draft and then send.

This is my thing for the day, thanks.

Glad to help you ... 2 ways to be able to send later ...
