Yes but that's not the point. The point is SeaMonkey Chat gives a ridicolus help
information, making it worse that better. One should remove this information and
add the information of howto connecting to a server.

Besides I still can't graps why this error is given. In the eyes of a user the
error text could has the meaning of Chat doesn't work. Why can't it give an
error which shows the user what's wrong?

Re: More on unexplained SM 'hangs'?

2011-10-24 Thread Peter

This hang is caused by SM 'helpfully' calculating how much disk space
you would save if you compacted all your folders after you just deleted
something.

Go to Preferences Mail Newsgroups Network Storage
and untick Compact folders when it will save.
Then it won't do it any more.

Unfortunately, it still does it for me. I've tried this suggestion, and
the earlier one about deleting the trash.msf files, and neither seem to
have made any difference at all.

I did not notice this behavior with SeaMonkey 2.4 when I was testing it

How many users have they lost? How many users do you think they have?

I only started using it because I didn't like Thunderbird. Now that I

Because the OP wants a silent install of their SeaMonkey on another

Why they would want another person to use their settings, bookmarks,

There are several bug reports on this.

Bug #662871 specifically addresses flickering with internal pages (i.e.,
pages not on the Web) for Add-ons Manager and Data Manager, both of
which display in new tabs. As a workaround, either select a different
tab and then return to the afflicted tab or else minimize the browser
window and then restore it.

Bugs #657401 and #664088 (and apparently some others) addresse
flickering with Web pages when scrolling. I have not seen this, but it
appears to be a real problem*. These should be fixed in SeaMonkey 2.5
or 2.6.

Maximize your SeaMoneky window on your monitor. On your menu bar,
select [Tools Data Manager]. Without switching tabs or changing the
window size, move your cursor over the Data Manager display. You should
see flickers as the cursor crosses the edges of panes in the tab and as
it goes over domains in the Domain pane on the left side. (Actually,
you should not see flickers but will, which is the point of bug #662871.)
