Is there a command to ask Seamonkey to re-download the attachments? I

The file size when saved is always smaller than it should be.

Hawker, one possibility.Have a look at Edit->Mail & Newsgroup
Account Settings and select the Disk Space settings for your e-mail
Account.

The top setting, if selected, limits the size of an e-mail (and
attachment, I guess) that would normally be downloaded. If you have this
setting ticked, either un-tick it or set a larger message size limit.

Thanx. That was turned off. No it is an odd beast, happens some times
not others. Mail that once worked often does not later. Rebuild mailbox
always fixes. Some sort of odd corruption issue.

O.K., have you tried File->Compact Folders.

When you delete an e-mail, it's not actually deleted, it's just marked
for deletion and removed from view. Compacting the files actually
deletes it and compacts the inbox file.

I'm not using Windows at all, but am using Ubuntu with the same version
as yourself:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:11.0) Gecko/20120312 Firefox/11.0

..and here is what I see at that page:

"Warning! You're using an old stable version of SeaMonkey (2.8), while we

It does not say "UNSUPPORTED." In the green box at the right, it advises

My interpretation of your post is that you see exactly what you should
see. Do note, that if you don't see this green box, you may have

Profile Manager seems not to create new profile in Windows 7 x 64

2012-06-15 Thread mmech mmech
Hi everyone,
I am transitioning from Vista to Windows 7. I've been using Seamonkey
for years now and migrating from XP, Vista, etc quite successfuly.
Overall, Seamonkey browser seems to be working fine. I do not have any
issue.

The problem that I am facing is with the Profile Manager (again under
Windows 7 x64). For sake of discussion, I am using Seamonkey 2.10 and
I have also tried the new 2.11 beta. No difference in what I am
describing below.

I am trying to generate a new profile to add to the default profile
you get. As example, I am using "Test". I went through the "All
Program --> Seamonkey -- Profile Manager" route. Then, go to Create
Profile. Then, I can enter the new name. But, when I click Finish,
nothing refresh (I can keep pressing Finish but there is no reaction,
that windows remains there). Then, I have to click Cancel to skip that
window. After clicking Cancel, I am back to Profile Manager window,
but no profile is generated under Available Profiles. Nevertheless,
and curiously, I can see that a new folder has been created under
AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Seamonkey/Profiles. But, this new profile is
not available through the Profile manager. I tried to close and open
Seamonkey to see if it will refresh, but it is not there.

Then, I tried using Tools-->Switch Profile and then create a new
profile. The same problem happens when you reach Finish buttom. That
windows does not react and you do not see a new Profile being created.
You get stick in the Finish windows and the only using Cancel you can
get back to Profile Manager windows. In the Profile Manager windows no
new profile appears. However, in this case, if I close the Profile
Manager window and I reopen it again (through Tools-->Switch Profile),
I can see a new Profile being created. This was promising. HOWEVER, if
I close Seamonkey and I check if the new profile is available through
All Program -->Seamonkey-->Profile Manager, I cannot see the new
profile at all. Furthermore, after re-opening Seamonkey, if now Ii go
back again to Tools-Switch Profile the new profile is not being shown
anymore. Once again, if I check on AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Seamonkey/
Profiles I can see that a neww folder has been opened, simply is not
being shown as part of the available profiless.

Because, it seems to me that this problem is related to x64 or Windows
7 (I used Windows Vista x32 in a different machine without problem to
create new profile), I decided to use the Windows Virtual PC on the
same computer. I downloaded the Seamonekey and installed under the
Windows Virtual PC. Then, I went to All Program -->Seamonkey-->Profile
Manager. The Profile Manager opened and I click Create New Profile. I
typed the new profile name and click "Finish". And immediatly, the new
Profile was added in the Profile Manager. The "Finish" buttom worked
perfectly under the Windows Virtual PC . Also, the new profile was
created and was available after closing and opening Seamonkey again.
All this, once again, under Windows Virtual PC.

So, it seems that something in the Profile Manager is not working well
under Windows 7 or, alternative, it is a 64 bits issue. As far as I
understand, the Windows Virtual PC runs in XP mode and 32 bits.

My temporal fix is to use Seamonkey through the Windows Virtual PC,
but this is annoying as I need to be switching windows and I would
like to migrate completely to Windows 7 and x64 bits.

So, I would like too know if this is a know issue by Seamonkey and if
there is a fix too go through and create a new Profile that is
available after opening or closing Seamonkey. Thanks.

I'm allowing all cookies. I can't find JavaScript...but I know that I

I don't even know what to look for. However, I just found another
problem. I tried to stream an audio at
http://www.radiolab.org/2009/oct/19/ . In IE I get a box which plays an
hour audio file. Nothing shows up in SM except for a "Stream" link.
When I click on it I get http://www.radiolab.org/audio/m3u/91693/ which
is a black screen titled "(audio/x-mpegurl Object)" and nothing. I have
the feeling that all these problems are connected, that something is
wrong somewhere. Again, all these pages work in IE and Chrome. But
they don't work in both SeaMonkey and Firefox.

Please, somebody tell me what to do!

update SeaMonkey, finally Flash.

Good question, and I don't know the answer. Theoretically if you
format NTFS and retest and performance is bad you can use the SD
Formatter from the SD Association (
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ ) to format it back to
Fat32 for optimal performance, but I have never done it and don't know
that it would get it back to the same performance it has now. It
might be worth using it to format the poor performing one back to
Fat32 and retest to see if it makes a difference. That might give you
a hint what you want to do with the new one.

I like this message when I switch the uri to:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0pre)
Gecko/20110406 NOT Firefox/4.0pre SeaMonkey/2.1b3pre

Hey! Your copy of SeaMonkey is more than four weeks old. Unless you are
using the latest release or nightly build, bug reports get rapidly less
useful the older your copy is.

So if you're not running the latest release (SeaMonkey 2.10), we could
use your help testing either that or the latest nightly build. (Be
warned that nightly builds are development software, and there is no
guarantee that they won't fry your processor, insult your mother, or
cause you to break out in a nasty rash.)

Setting my uri to Ray's:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20120312
Firefox/11.0 SeaMonkey/2.8
results in:

Warning! You're using an old stable version of SeaMonkey (2.8), while we
offer a newer version which contains important security fixes.

We encourage you to download the newer version linked in the download
box at the right to be safe from known vulnerabilities and be able to
use the newest features in a stable SeaMonkey release.

If you get this message despite having installed SeaMonkey 2.10 already,
you might want to try resetting your user agent string to the default.

Restart with add-on disabled: Help|Restart With Addons Disabled
and see if it works then. If so enable your addons 1 by 1 until you find
the one creating the problem.

Just yesterday my wife brought me her Win7 notebook and complained that
she couldn't see the flash section & images on bigfishgames.com (using
Firefox 13). I could get it to appear properly on the notebook with IE,
SeaMonkey, and Chrome. So I restarted with addons disabled & it turns
out that (yet again) something she had downloaded and installed also
installed (what I consider to be) a malware toolbar: qwiklinx. Disabling
the toolbar fixed the problem.
Out of curiosity, I left the program installed (it puts a directory in
the firefox directory - qwiklinx) and reinstalled Firefox. Of course the
toolbar addon remained persistent. The only was to get rid of it was to
delete the quiklinx directory, uninstall from Programs, and go through
the register & rip out traces of it there.

So, even if you reinstall: 1) your profile remains intact, and 2) a
malware toolbar (or similar) will remain as well.

The next step after restarting with addon disabled still not working, is
to create a new test profile and try with that. Tools|Switch Profiles -
create new 'Test' profile and restart in that new clean profile. Install
_only_ Flash & try again.

I see this problem at while
running SeaMonkey in Safe Mode. I got a white page with no content.
When I selected [View] on the menu bar, [Source] was disabled. No
errors, warnings, or messages appeared in the Error Console.

It might have something to do with the URI pointing to a Flash file
instead of an HTML file. All other Web pages containing Flash that I
visited seem to be okay, but they are HTML or XHTML files with embedded
Flash.

When I tried , the return
header indicated "Content-Type: application/x-shockwave-flash". When I
tested my Flash installation at
, there were no
"Content-Type" lines in the return headers for three Flash files. If
this is working in non-Gecko browsers, the problem might be in a failure
of Gecko to handle "Content-Type: application/x-shockwave-flash".

SM 2.10 Mail Only Maximum or on Task Bar

2012-06-15 Thread Brooke Clarke

Hi:

When the SM 2.10 mail window is maximized and you click on the double box in the upper right to shrink it a little is
minimizes. Then the only option is to maximize thus filling the screen. How to get SM 2.10 to a sizable window?

Does not happen here; reduces to a window as expected.

I understand your concern, but I have constantly upgraded my version
and have NOT experienced the problems others have. That is not to say
they don't have problems, but that I did NOT experience them. I suspect
that some of the problems might be attributed to something other than
the SeaMonkey browser. Who knows??

By "double box", I assume you mean the middle icon between the _ and the
X. When you select it, is the window minimized to the task bar as if
you selected the _ icon? Or does it become a very tiny and useless
window on your desktop?

I did much the same...skipped a lot of them between 2.0.14 and 2.9
because of what I'd been reading, and I still keep a copy of 2.0.14 and
it's pristine Profile folder around. I agree - it's about what works

These files are the crash report.

2012-06-15 Thread Paul Bergsagel
These two files are created when Seamonkey has crashed and a crash
report has been sent to Mozilla developers.

I opened the file with the extension .extra and this is what I could read:

Theme=classic/1.0
StartupTime=1301702970
ServerURL=https://crash-reports.mozilla.com/submit
Add-ons=en...@dictionaries.addons.mozilla.org:2.0.0,{59c81df5-4b7a-477b-912d-4e0fdf64e5f2}:0.9.86.1,inspec...@mozilla.org:2.0.9,{3d7eb24f-2740-49df-8937-200b1cc08f8a}:1.3.17,{f13b157f-b174-47e7-a34d-4815ddfdfeb8}:0.9.88.1,nosqu...@urandom.ca:1.93.2.1,{972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd}:1.0,mod...@themes.mozilla.org:1.0
BuildID=20110320134435
ProductName=SeaMonkey
Vendor=Mozilla
Version=2.0.13
InstallTime=1301015866
URL=http://community.livejournal.com/fatshionista/
CrashTime=1301716901
SecondsSinceLastCrash=4233308

The other file with the extension .dmp could be opened but only
contained meaningless text (at least to me). I believe the file with
.dmp is a dump of the state of Mozilla at the time of the crash which is
useful to developers when debugging SeaMonkey.

Could this caused by this windows update ?

Update for Windows 7 (KB2718704)
Installation date: ‎09/‎06/‎2012 22:41
Installation status: Successful
Update type: Important
Install this update to resolve an issue which requires an update to the
certificate revocation list on Windows systems and to keep your systems
certificate list up to date. After you install this update, you may have
to restart your system.
More information:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2718704

Okay. I dusted off my software test engineer hat -- which I put aside 9
years ago when I retired -- and did some investigating.

On my PC, the minidumps folders were created in my four SeaMonkey
profiles on 24 November 2011. I installed the Windows XP KB2718704 fix
on 4 June 2012, more than six months later. Thus, I do not think
minidumps has anything to do with the KB2718704 fix for any Windows
version.

The minidumps folder first appeared in my Thunderbird profile with TBird
3.0, which I installed on 10 December 2010. However, the folder now has
a creation date of 28 September 2011, which is when I installed TBird
7.0. I'm now at TBird 13.0.

I installed SeaMonkey 2.0.11 on 11 December 2010 (the day after TBird
3.0), but minidumps does not appear in my installation log for that
date. I installed SM 2.5 on 23 November 2011, the day before the
current creation date for the folder in my SM profiles. I'm now at SM
2.10.

I can't find any installation log for any software for 24 November 2011.
However, my logging sometimes fails, leaving me without any log.

My current software inventory also shows no installation done on that
date. My inventory only shows the most recent installation of a
software version, not a history. Thus, an installation on 24 November
2011 would be replaced in my inventory if I then install a later version
of the same software.

I just now deleted folder minidumps from my "guest" profile (not my
primary profile). I then switched to that profile. When I switched
back to my primary profile, the folder reappeared in my "guest" profile.
Thus, this folder appears to be a Mozilla artifact.

Most SeaMonkey newsgroup subscribers are presumably using the latest
version, which is why most posts in here are in regards to the latest
version. For instance, if you read posts in this newsgroup from April
28, 2011 to June 10, 2011 (the time period when 2.0.14 was the latest
version), you;ll find that most posts are in regards to 2.0.14.

Plus 2.0.14 as known public security vulnerabilities, which is why it is
not recommended.

Don't forget that the users who don't have problems have no reason to
post; so if I were you, I wouldn't worry about updating. Especially
considering you have people in here to help you if you have any issues.

happen in 2.9 as well if you update to the newer Flash version (Adobe is

Apparently Flash 11.3 does have issues -- and some of those are related
to RealPlayer:

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-doesnt-load-video-firefox

http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes

The links above are for Firefox, but they should be useful for Seamonkey
users too.

I haven't noticed any misbehavior. But then, I haven't used Real Player
for, oh, at least two computers. That's right: neither this computer nor
its predecessor have *ever* had RealPlayer installed. And I don't
upgrade that often -- this machine is twenty months old and I still
think of it as my "new" computer.

Good to know. Then I'll update again to SM 2.10 soon. I just won't
