Safe Mode in 2.31

2014-12-05 Thread SamuelS
Hello all, woke up this morning to my W8.1 machine with SM 2.31 (beta)
which will only open in 'Safe Mode'.

Not sure what happened, I did a few emails last night, word docs and
some eBay updates.

Now performing a full scan with Avast to see if there is anything hiding
which I Am not aware of.

Any ideas or suggestions or something which I have possibly missed here?

Without the Save Passwords extension, passwords that have been saved
will no longer be fetched and used if the login Web page has
autocomplete=off. Saving passwords when autocomplete=off was
implemented but not using them when autocomplete=off.

Yes, I've noticed!

For this reason I have reverted to SM 2.26 -- which from your footer line, you
have also done . . .

 Original Message

2.31 is the first version since the Windows 2000 days where I haven't
had to use the stop icon to end the page loading on nearly every website.

Not only that, SeaMonkey is now making json bookmark backups at a
once-a-day clip (although that seems to have started at least a week
ago, so perhaps something other than a version upgrade is responsible
for that).

No printing, no saving, no downloading, no uploading.

2014-12-05 Thread Poldek

I have problem here with SM 2.31 (it was the same with previous
versions) and Win XP SP3.

I can't print any e-mail, can't save any e-mail, can't download any file
through web browser, neither upload any file.

I'm on normal user account.
I logout from normal user, login as admin and everything is fine.
But of course I don't want to be admin during normal day-to-day work.
Any ideas please?

SeaMonkey 2.31 released

2014-12-05 Thread NoOp
>From SeaMonkey Project News RSS feed:

The SeaMonkey project is proud to present SeaMonkey 2.31: The new major
release of the all-in-one Internet suite is available for download now!
Building on the same Mozilla platform as the newest Firefox release, it
delivers the latest developments in web technologies such as HTML5,
hardware acceleration and improved JavaScript speed.

SeaMonkey 2.31 is available in 26 languages, for Windows, Mac OS X and
Linux.

Most notably, this release features for the first time:

Support for H264 (MP4) is now built in on Mac OS X Snow Leopard
(10.6) and newer through native APIs.
HTTP/2 (draft14) and ALPN have been implemented.
Added ability to recover from a locked process in the "SeaMonkey is
already running" dialog on Windows.
Added ECDH support for WebCrypto.
The console.table function has been added to the Error Console.
CSS transitions start correctly now when started at the same time as
changes to display, position, overflow, and similar properties.
Fixed several stability issues.

For a more complete list of major changes in SeaMonkey 2.31, see the
What's New in SeaMonkey 2.31 section of the Release Notes, which also
contain a list of known issues and answers to frequently asked
questions. For a more general overview of the SeaMonkey project (and
screen shots!), visit www.seamonkey-project.org.

Note: allowing lightning to be updated on linux (don't know about
Windows and Mac) results in issues with the mail/news window and
desktop(s). See

It's not changed - still does not display & only shows a graphic icon. I
just tested the file in mozilla.test.multimedia.

SeaMonkey 2.31 Mac OSX Flash failure (no picture, only sound).

2014-12-05 Thread Paul Bergsagel
I am running Mac OS X 10.7.5 on a late 2006 27" iMac.. I downloaded and
installed SeaMonkey 2.31. Everything seemed fine until I went to
Youtube. Flash did not work. Clicking on a video the player appeared and
when the video began there was only sound. There was no picture.

I went to Adobe and reinstalled the latest Flash. Still no good. Videos
only played with sound. There was no picture.

Thank goodness for time machine :). I reverted to SeaMonkey 2.30, Flash
once again is working with both picture and sound.

If you are using Mac OSX I would strongly advise you to avoid SeaMonkey
2.31, especially if you use flash to view videos.

If you go that route, begin by uninstalling "Shockwave Flash." Same for
"Shockwave for Director." The installers seem to leave detritus behind
from previous versions.

And FWIW, I'm using both plugins on Win7 Pro SP1 and having no issues on
either of two different computers, one a fast desktop and one a slow
older laptop. So it is possible.
