This happens to me for the majority of posts from OP on newsgroup. I
always assumed that the reason is "X-No-Archive: yes" in his posts and I
kept it did not deal with...

Hmm.

Could the fact that you have no email address set up (real or
fake) be the problem?

Probably not.
He has been using .@. as an address since at least April 2012.
He has posted at least 61 times this year with that address.

His post beginning this thread is only retrievable post since
AFTER APRIL 22.

He had made a post on April 30 titled "Re: updating to 2.40".
After reading it I had set it as unread an Flagged it [my
personal way of temporarily marking it as 'of interest']. When I
attempt to retrieve it today I get:

Error!
newsgroup server responded:no such article in group

Perhaps the article has expired

 (99020)

Click here to remove all expired articles

He may not be only person experiencing a similar problem.
Within last day or two I had gotten a similar response when
attempting to read another message. *WITHOUT* thinking about it
I clicked "... remove all expired articles".

How to raise this anomaly with appropriate parties?

I got onto Yahoo (hate Yahoo !) and this it

Try searching for this -
(Cannot+Connect+to+Google) and see all the
stuff you get !

Does anyone know what is going on ?
Do I have some kind of Virus or Trojan or
Maleware working to destroy
Google ?

One site says to "Flush my DNS Cache" - me no
unnerstand ! No idea what
to do there !

Steps in Windows:

1) Press the Windows key on your keyboard, then
the "R" key. This should open a dialog inviting
you to type the name of the program you wish to
run. Enter "cmd" (no quotation marks) and hit
Enter.

Alternatively, click the Start button and enter
"cmd" in the search window at the bottom of the
list. When it finds "cmd.exe," click that.

2) In the window that appears, type
 ipconfig/flushdns
and hit Enter. The system should respond that it
has "successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache"
or something like that.

3) Type
 Exit
and hit Enter to close the window.

Go back to browsing normally.

Malawarebytes found 15 non-threatening "Things"
which I had it remove.
After rebooting, Google came right up.
It did that about 10% of the time, however, so I
can't tell if this will continue or not.
Wish I knew if this problem was within my system
(trojan, virus or maleware) or not, just
for the grins of it.

Google is now https. Does your machine have
trouble with other https sites?
https://startpage.com
https://www.youtube.com/

I used your "Startpage.com" to search for Google - which is https (how's
that different from http?)

Put that in my "home" and Google came right up !

Thanks for that piece of information !

Let's see if I have any more trouble..

Going now to find out http from https on that very Google !

DB

https defeats man-in-the-middle attacks and therefore bypasses router
filters, FWIW.

HTTPS pages are encrypted, so look like garbage if intercepted, whereas
HTTP pages are not encrypted.

Remember, he has no File/Edit/View/... toolbar, so as another poster
has pointed out, he has to access it by
Alt-V (for "View"), then W (for "Show/Hide"),
then E (for "Menu Bar")

But once he does, it'd be interesting to know what happens.

Sorry I neglected to notice/mention that.

I downloaded the full installer from http://www.seamonkey-project.org/

Separate issue. There was a problem with handling of certificates a
while back, I think it was about v. 2.26 or so. Once you got past that
version, it went away.

The recent issue was that Win7/64 machines were reporting no available
updates, while other operating systems were correctly offering v. 2.40.

And Windows 8 x64 was also affected.
