What happens when you mouse over the boundary? Doesn't the cursor change

It helps, but gives no solution. So when I toggle the layout to one of
the other settings I get that nameless thing back, but my favourite
layout doesn't get it back when I return to it.

Right, I think Mozilla only caches the headers.
If you want to scan the body, you have to convince Mozilla
to download them.

Right click the NG. Properties. Synchronization tab.
Check Select this group for offline use
Click Download Now

That might do the trick.

Toggling mail.server.default.abbreviate to false switches to the full
names, but (unfortunately?) also does so in the folder pane.

Not a problem as they are all messages I wrote with SM 2.48 .
They are going to define items in a few ToDo lists.

That being said, grep provides a rudimentary solution.

$ grep -r '^Date:\|^Subject:\|^Message-ID:' mail_folder

Search Does NOT !

2017-05-15 Thread Mozillian

I checked the newsgroups I want to search for off-line searches.

Nothing seemed to happen.

I went to search in the Body of the messages of one of the checked
newsgroups and it said not found.

WHY ???

What else do I have to do ?

The posts bodies are visible on Seamonkey. Is that not enough ?

I remember reading the post on this PC. How can it NOT find it now ?

I need to find something that was posted several weeks ago and is ONLY
found in the Body (not the subject).

Re: There's a new stable akalla 2.50 x64 build

2017-05-15 Thread Frank-Rainer Grahl
Found the cause (or at least the main cause for SeaMonkey) today and spun off
a bug from the original bug:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1364977
Gave a test build to someone affected and it works. I hope the bug fix is ok.
If yes it will go into the final 2.48 for sure. ewong still has problems
enabling updates and so it hasn't been built yet.

Re: SM 2.46 eMail Loss

2017-05-15 Thread Gerry Hickman via support-seamonkey

I updated to 2.46 from 2.40 on my Laptop using Win Business Vista 2, I
Am not able to retrieve/see over 18 months of email for only one
account.

The first thing to do is locate your old SeaMonkey profile and see if
the files are still there.

e.g.

C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\Profiles\69y9sdxz.default

I have reverted to SM 2.40 and still not able to find the messages...

In general, it's not a good idea to "revert" because your profile would
have been updated to a newer version, and reverting can cause data loss.
