Re: macOS Mojave 10.14.5: SM 2.53 kernel panics

2019-05-22 Thread Frank-Rainer Grahl
The 2.53 and 2.57 profiles are not interchangable. 2.57 has serious problems
and is only for testing right now. If you go back to 2.53 please restore the
profile form a backup.

I just upgraded to 10.14.5 but tested only the hopefully soon to be released
2.49.5.

If the kernal panics it is an apple bug even if other programs work fine. A
program may crash but it should never take down the kernel. I suggest you do a
hardware test too even if the mac worked fine before. 10.14.5 might have
exposed a defect.

Hi all,

when the GPU is broken) and then the Mac restarted itself as in kernel panic! :-(

Other programs work fine. I tried SM 2.57 in safe mode but it doesn't
correctly show the session restore window cause I can't see the button to
start it.

Someone else is having the same issue? Thank you!

I used 2.49.4 before and it worked, but since about 1 month I switched to 2.53
and it worked too until yesterday after I updated macOS :-(

All the other programs are working.
If I start with a new profile and it works, how do I import all the previous

You are missing something - that posting was made using Google Groups.

@Victoria: You can set Seamonkey up to access this group directly, the
News Server (Server Settings) is news.mozilla.org, default Port.
The Name and Email Address can be total garbage, as in my case. There
are a couple of advantages to doing things this way:

- Spammers are welcome to send stuff to the address I have specified ;-)
- Your User-Agent is there for all to see, this can be helpful when
diagnosing any problems problems you raise here.

Hi,

but 2.57 starts and doesn't crash, 2.53 completely crashes the whole Mac!
The problem with 2.57 is it doesn't restore the sessionstore file (but it shows
the "do you want to restore" alert).

What do you mean by "2.53 and 2.57 profiles are not interchangable"?

It's not the usual kernel panic, I don't see the KP alert, but the effect is
the same: it's like something really weird is happening to the GPU and then it
restarts.
I did all sort of tests, CPU/GPU/RAM are fine, all the programs are working
(even CPU and GPU intensive like some activities managed by BOINC distributed
projects. I ran Cinebench tests several times, and TechTool Pro) it's only SM
2.53 which is causing the crashing.

Can you try 2.53 on your 10.14.5? :-)

Thank you.

Accounts vanish after editing settings

2019-05-22 Thread Paul B. Gallagher
I recently change my hosting company, and "lost" a couple of accounts in
the process. They're not really gone, it's just that SM doesn't display
them. Here's what I did; I hope you can tell me how to unhide them.

During the period of overlap, when both hosting companies were active
and operating normally, I kept my existing mail accounts untouched and
created parallel new ones with the same email addresses but different
account names and different server data. This way I could poll both
servers and catch stray messages from the old server while also
retrieving messages received on the new server. When DNS was updated,
most of the messages started showing up in the new email accounts. So
the list looked like this:

"Username1" (old server settings)
"Username2" (old server settings)
"Username1 new" (new server settings)
"Username2 new" (new server settings)

That worked fine.

This morning, seeing that almost all my mail was now showing up in the
"Username1 new" and "Username2 new" accounts, I decided to transpose the
server settings so my mail would be received in the "Username1" and
"Username2" accounts where all my folders are located and all my mail
filters apply. If a couple of stragglers show up in the revised
"Username1 new" and "Username2 new" accounts (which now have the old
server settings), I can easily drag and drop them to the correct
folders, and eventually delete these old accounts.

Well, on restarting SeaMonkey, I saw only:

"Username1" (new server settings)
"Username2" (new server settings)

The other two accounts had vanished. However, I can still see them in
the profile folder in Windows Explorer, and when I open their Inboxes
with Notepad I can see their contents (a couple of stray messages that I
would like to save).

How can I get SeaMonkey to recognize and display the other two accounts?
It doesn't matter a lot -- I can still view the messages on the old
host's webmail -- but I'd still like to be able to keep them until I'm
good and ready to delete them by my own choice.

Thanks.

2.57 upgrades the profile. They are pretty close but not 100% downward
compatible.

Doesn't matter if it only occurs with 2.53. There might be a problem in the
2.53 release but if the mac crashes it is an apple problem too. I will look
thru the ESR60 changes if I spot something recently wrt 10.14.5. Neglected
2.53 a little lately because we need to get 2.49.5 out of the door.

Can you try 2.53 on your 10.14.5? :-)

Yes but not before the weekend. If the current trend continues we might even
need to discontinue macOS in 10.15 or 10.16. The wall around the walled garden
Apple becomes higher with every release :(

I am in the US, and not having problems seeing content, as long as I
adjust NoScript to allow scripting from hayneedle.com and azureedge.com,
even if I leave newrelic.com and googletagmanager.com blocked. I can
search, select merchandise, go all the way through the cart to checkout.
Although there are some sites that won't work correctly with
googletagmanager blocked, I'm not seeing that here.

Although for this kind of thing, it's always a good idea to clear your
cache and cookies, my suspicion is that the problem is with cookies
being blocked. Just for kicks, I went to Tools -> Cookie Manager, and
set "block cookies", and the result that I got was a blank display, when
I refreshed the page.

I will note that yesterday, I was having problems with a variety of
sites that require login, and some where explicitly complaining about
not having cookie permissions. On further investigation, I found that
somehow, my normal setting to accept cookies from originating website
only had gotten changed to blocking all cookies. When I changed back to
my original preference, the problem disappeared.
