"wrong link" messages
Hi Sea Monkey folks, We use Thunderbird for our email program and SeaMonkey for our browser. I get a large number of emails with links in them. In the past month, I'd say that over half of the links I click on return some kind of error message, usually: Wrong Link You have clicked on an invalid link. Please make sure that you have typed the link correctly. If are copying this link from a mail reader please ensure that you have copied all the lines in the link. Today I received a message that was not a group one, but directed to me from an activity of a family member. It also returned an error message: bad url - reference number: -6pBDC_nhC7JndElu4fRCA Unlike the others, where I cannot see the actual link, this one had it spelled out. I tried it in Google Chrome and was able to get in. What's going on with my programs that I can no longer click through on links? I really like your products, but if they prevent me from moving from one item to another, I might have to reconsider... Re: I'm pretty happy with SeaMonkey 2.0
Rob Steinmetz wrote: I though I'd pass along my compliments. I use Seamonkey to manage mu email and Newsgroups. I have 10 email accounts 3 news servers and more than 50 email filters on my primary account. I spend much of my day working in Seamonkey. I had not done extensive testing of pre-release versions. I did run the RCs. I have found no major problems so far and my migration was trouble free even if it was exceptionally long, Perhaps my easy adaption is because I also use Firefox and Thunderbird regularly. I see many small improvements and linke any new software a few things I'll have to get used to, I am extremely excited to have Lightning available and most of my issues have been minor UI issues related to Lightning integration and my unfamiliarity with tabbed mail, which I'm still struggling to use effectively. I put that down to it being new both to me and to SeaMonkey. Thanks to all of the developers and to the people here who helped me figure out my problems. Me too ! Found no problems under Linux (Ubuntu 9.10). Grateful thanks to the Seamonkey team. My Old Sent Messages
I have kept about 400 of my Sent messages, some dating back a couple of years. I agree that is too many and I'll cull them as soon as my recent problem is corrected. Yesterday, something happened and no longer can I read the body of the messages that I have sent. The subject, recipient and date still appear in the upper half of the window but the bottom half is blank. Messages that I sent today are OK. This problem applies only to Sent messages; My Local folders are OK. I must have done something accidentally but don't know what and I don't know how to correct it. Using SeaMonkey 1.1.15. To NoOp
Hello NoOp, Here are my settings: POP Server: pophm.sympatico.ca Port: 995 Authentication: At this point the information does not follow the order you outline. There is a box for User Name and in the box is laurie.er...@sympatico.ca. Should I add my password and if so, do I leave a space between User name Password. How do I separate these two - with a space, a comma, a hyphen, what? SSL Outgoing mail server (SMTP) SMTP Server: smtphm.sympatico.ca Port: This was 995 but I changed it to 25. Then I could not send this by Outlook Express and so I changed it back to 995. Authentication: At this point the information does not follow the order you outline. The word Authentication: appears and a small box to be checked. It was not checked so I checked it. Again there is no place to add my e-mail address and a password. SSL Somewhere I think that I read that one cannot make changes; they must begin again with a new installation. If I do this, I am afraid that I would lose all my addresses and the E-mails that I was saving to be answered in the future. If you can get me up and running with Sea Monkey before my birthday you'll deserve a medal. Day by Day My Sea Monkey Is Coming Apart
I've been using Sea Monkey for sending and receiving E-mail for about three years (ever since Netscape 7.2 quit on me) and never had a problem until now. On Thursday, Mar. 5, Sea Monkey quit sending my messages. That day, I received a surprise Error Message, Enter your password for laurie.er...@sympatico.ca on pophm.sympatico.ca. I do not recall ever having done this before and did not know that I had a password. Another Error Message said, Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtphm.sympatico.ca failed. ... For a few days, I could still receive E-mail with Sea Monkey but now that has failed and the Error message for that is, Could not connect to server pophm.sympatico.ca; the connection was refused. When the problem first occurred on Thursday, a technician with my Service Provider spent two hours with me on the telephone. He was able to take control of my cursor and tried many things but was unable to fix the problem. Towards the end of that period, after consulting with his superior he informed me that Sympatico did not support Sea Monkey and after putting me onto Outlook Express, he was happily off the hook. I recall they did the same thing three years ago when I was forced to give up my Netscape and adopt Sea Monkey. I would like to get Sea Monkey back. I am sending this call for help through Outlook Express but Sea Monkey has three years of history and addresses and I want it back. I will be 85 on March 19 and although I have been using a computer for 20 years I am no geek. I am more of a chauffeur than I am a mechanic. Thank you.
