Columns mixed up in transmitting e-mails

2019-01-26 Thread Mort Linder

Hi,

I am running Windows 7, with SeaMonkey IMAP e-mail.

When I carefully type and send an e-mail, with some important data in
columns, the received message has the columns all mixed up, so that the
data are often illegible. This just happened again when I was trying to
make dates with a pretty girl pianist to go to classical music concerts
with me.

What can I do to have the e-mail received in exactly the same format as
when I send it?

Thanks.

When you launch SeaMonkey it goes to a home page you configured, but
when you click the link for SeaMonkey it can't find it?

Or is the home page a SeaMonkey page?

SeaMonkey moved to new infrastructure and is most likely coded to go to
the site on the old infrastructure.

When you type the URL it finds the site on the new infrastructure.

That's my theory. I don't currently have any SeaMonkey installations to
test that theory.

It's clear and valid.

You see it because updates from previous versions don't work, and you
possibly  have this page <https://www.seamonkey-project.org/> set as
your home page.

"Automatic upgrades from previous versions are, for most configurations,
disabled for this release. If you need to upgrade from an earlier
version, please download the full installer from the downloads section
and install SeaMonkey 2.49.3 manually over the previous version."

It doesn't say your version isn't current.

Is that clear?

Try this page. <https://www.seamonkey-project.org/start/>

Option 1: Use this link for the Cookie Manager:

Select the cookies you wish to delete and click "Remove Cookie." Answer
"Remove" when prompted.

Option 2: From a browser window, do Tools | Data Manager and at the top
left, where it says, "All data types," pull down "Cookies only" from the
list. In the list at left, click the domain name "nytimes.com" once, and
in the list that appears on the right, click one of the cookies and then
CTRL-A to select all of them. Click "Remove" at the bottom, and answer
"Remove" when prompted.

Afterwards, how can I block only further New York Times cookies?

In Option 1 above, above, check the box "Don't allow websites that set
removed cookies to set future cookies" before you click the "Remove"
button.

In Option 2 above, check the box "When removing, block the listed
websites from setting future cookies" before you click the "Remove" button.

In both options, the next time you do this for a different website, make
sure the check box is set the way you want it before you click the
"Remove" button. I don't remember if that setting survives until your
next visit.

If all you did was "download" it, you haven't installed it.

But if you mean to say you "installed" it (which is what it looks like

There is no sure way to do what you want, except for creating a PDF
document (or poor second choice, an image) and attach it to your email.
Use another tool to create it: word processor/spreadsheet/text editor...

The reasons are many: plaintext/HTML mail; local client/webmail; fixed/
proportional font choices among the reasons.

I think in a case like this, it would be very useful to actually see
what you're talking about. If you can create a screenshot (see
<http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem>)

and upload it to an image hosting site like Flickr or Google Photos,
that would help everyone know what you're referring to.

"When mail launches, show the start page in the message area"
Location: chrome://messenger/content/start.xhtml"

That's the correct URL. It has nothing to do with Google Chrome. The use
of the term "Chrome" in Mozilla predates the existence of the Chrome
browser (and SeaMonkey as well).

Chrome = That part of the application window that lies outside of a
window's content area. Toolbars, menu bars, progress bars, and window
title bars are all examples of elements that are typically part of the
chrome.
For more info, see
<https://www-archive.mozilla.org/xpfe/ConfigChromeSpec.html>

When I delete the Chrome etc, and type in the proper SeaMonkey words,
it becomes a hybrid, seamonkey plus the (deleted) chrome, and is
rejected by the computer.

I need to see a screenshot to know what you're referring to.

Since you are using windows it could be something amiss in your
registry. The simplest way to fix that is to just uninstall SeaMonkey
then reinstall it and setup will register it in the registry. So this
does not remove your profile data.

Also not sure what you mean by 'The "mail start page" was always
SeaMonkey'. Do you mean "Edit > Preferences... > Mail & Newsgroups >
Mail Start Page"

[] When Mail launches, show the Start Page in the message area

If so is the default location the default?

chrome://messenger/content/start.xhtml

Yes, the default comes up Chrome messenger, no matter how I try to
delete it.

Hi,

Yes, I did. However, its URL then becomes "chrome messenger SeaMonkey",
and the computer rejects the hybrid URL. The " " cannot be
deleted, not even its title.

It is frustrating.

Hi,

Thank you, but that does not work. Chrome Messenger is NOT in my control

Can you restore to a known good restore point?

Hi,

I tried system restore, and the PC would not start after that. It took
an hour of automatic repair and repeat system restore and biting my
nails, until the PC worked again.

The original problem remains.

Thanks for your input.

These are internal database files. Best you leave them alone or do a

There is at least one extension available which handles them but I
would opt for an sqlite external editor and only doing any updates
when SeaMonkey is not running.

I use https://sqlitestudio.pl/index.rvt when looking at bugs or doing
patches.

I will concur on that one -- don't touch the contents of an sqlite file,
unless you have specific reason to do so.

I suppose there *might* be some reason to use an access tool if you're
merely examining the contents (e.g., read-only), but ultimately, it's
the same sort of thing as the Windows registry. Don't play with things
unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Smith

Hi,

Thanks for the several replies. I will do as advised, and not touch
those files.

However, there's a number of sites that I really don't want setting

I went to my backups and restored cookies.sqlite, but it looks like
that's not where these settings are, as all the cookie permissions are
still gone.

I don't see any other cookie-related files in the profile.

Thus, the question of where the cookie permissions are stored --
places.sqlite, perhaps, or something else?

Smith

Bookmarks and history are stored in places.sqlite. Cookies are stored
in cookies.sqlite. Cookie permissions are stored in permissions.sqlite.

Maybe because when composing, you use monospace font, which lines up

I have never seen an 'add on' before that had to be constantly
