SM 2.2 : Shift Middle-click on link behavior reversed

2011-07-22 Thread OBones
Hello,

I just upgraded from 2.0.14 to 2.2 and now when I middle click on a
link, the tab is opened but not focused, while if I maintain Shift
pressed as I middle click it instantly gives focus to the new tab.
This use to be the opposite in 2.0.14, that is, I had to maintain
Shift pressed if I wanted the tab to be opened but not focused.
How can I get the old behavior back? I went through the options and
could not find anything obvious, nor did anything came up obvious in
about:config

Thanks for your help

If I follow your instructions 1-3, the Previous button returns me to the
way the tab was at step #1. This is not an error because the state of
the tab before step #3 is the tab's history. And turning off JavaScript
does not change the behavior.

Hum, in my setup new tabs open blank, I guess yours opens a default web
page.

If I select a link to open in a new tab, however, then the history for
that new tab is indeed empty and the Previous button is grayed out.

Interesting, I'm not observing that, I do get the same problem as I
mentioned earlier.

Which version do you use?
I'm on version 2.0.6:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.11)
Gecko/20100701 SeaMonkey/2.0.6

Could it then come from an extension?

Hum, yes, but there is nothing to say ask me before doing it

Uncheck the first item you see at top of screen. That way if you go to
check for updates and click check now it will. But won't check and
install automatically.

I quite liked the weekly reminder saying there is a new version, do you

Yes, but browser and mail behave the same for me:
When I close the windows maximized on the second screen, they will
always forget on which screen they were. When closing a window in a
non-maximized state it will remember the screen on the next start.
So start up SM, put both windows on the wanted screen in a non-maximized
state and close SM. Now fire it up again, maximize the windows you like
and close. On the next start it should be correct.

Tested/Experienced on Win2k SP4 with Secondary monitor on the right.

Excellent! That did it.

I must have inadvertently done this for the browser window myself. Now that I do
it for the mail window also, it works.

When I'm composing an email, if I write the email address myself, the

Is this a known issue?

Probably the known issue:

Windows versions of SeaMonkey 2.0.1 can freeze when entering addresses
in an email compose window while trying to read from Windows contacts.

On the SeaMonkey menu bar, select [Edit Preferences]. In the
Preferences window, select [Advanced Software Install]. On the
Software Installation pane, uncheck the checkboxes under Updates.

Unlike some other update capabilities, however, you will then no longer
get even a notice about updates. For SeaMonkey itself, updates are
announced in this newsgroup.

It would be nice to have the old behaviour as well, where it checks for
update but asks if it should install it or not.
This way I can say no, not now because I don't have the time to do so
at that moment.

The old inbox is still there, look for it in the Document and settings
folder.
What might have happened is that you have a very big inbox and the

SM2 : Mouse cursor when loading a page

2009-11-25 Thread obones

Hello all,

In SM1, when a page is currently loading, the mouse cursor changes to
the Application starting cursor. That is, the arrow with a little
hourglass.
Now in SM2, there is no visual indication on the mouse cursor that the
page is loading. Yes, I know, there are the turning arrows on the tab
icon. But I find it much easier to see that the page is loading when the
mouse cursor is showing it.

Is there a way to reactivate the previous behavior?

SMTP parameter in SM2 after having migrated from SM1

2009-11-24 Thread obones

Hello all,

I'm currently reviewing SM2 and when I installed it I told it to import
the settings from my existing SM1 installation.

All email accounts got imported, along with the SMTP server definition.
While I can send emails just fine in SM1, I always get an error when
sending emails with SM2.

The error says this:

Unable to authenticate to SMTP server SERVER_NAME. The serer does not
support any compatible insecure authentication mechanism but you have
chosen insecure authentication. Try switching on secure authentication
or contact your service provider.

I tried turning on TLS or even SSL, but none of these are provided by
the given server.

What I find weird is that it worked and continues to work fine in SM1.
Obviously, some option has been removed/disabled in SM2, but which one?
Is there a way to reactivate it?

Thanks

Well, thanks to all for your pointers.
I finally got it to work doing the following:

Go to Password manager, remove the saved password for any SMTP server
Edit the SMTP parameters and uncheck Use name and password

This now works just fine.
Note: our SMTP server is purely internal and thus does not require any
login credentials.
