It comes up blank in 1.1.18, until I expand the window to full screen,
then a 2 x 3 box with pages flipping over in it shows. Clicking on
that opens a magazine in another tab, which works fine. Apparently,
their digital reader in Flash is causing the problem.

Here's the new page with the magazine:

Politico - 12/04/2009 digital edition

My 1.1.18 was/is at full-screen, but I'm not seeing what you're seeing.
As an experiment I told SM to *stop* blocking popup windows and did a
shift-Reload of Politico to see if anything changed, but nada.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that this was Flash's doing.
Differences in what people are reporting could be due to different Flash
versions or settings.

You mean for example if the site relies on an ActiveX control, which is
ineffective in the Mozilla family?

Because 95% of the malware on PC's are activated by active-x controls.
Active-X can't be made safe.

Active-X isn't even recognized on the Mac OSX because of this Danger.
Its far more dangerous than Java or JavaScript ever will be or ever has
been.

It's possible they are. (I also have popups blocked in IE, and won't
be changing that just to find out.) People using SM2 report no
problems; but whether they're seeing what Politico actually intends I
have no way of knowing.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4)
Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0

Works for me.

However, after loading the page, I got a popup (although I have popups
blocked). The title bar said The page at http://servscanner03.com
says: The content said Warning!!! Your personal computer needs to
install antivirus software. Antivir can perform fast and free virus and
malicious software scan of your computer. When I selected the Cancel
button, some kind of scan started anyway. I killed it. I then searched
for any new .exe or .dll files, but I found none.

I have AVG installed. Although I just updated AVG a few days ago, I'm
updating it again. I will then scan my whole PC.

In the meantime, I added http://servscanner03.com to my Adblock Plus
filter.

I got the same thing. I got rid of it by adding it to my HOSTS. But,
still no Politico homepage. I've notified them of that and of their
obnoxious popup. Now I'll be doing a disk scan, too.
