Mort Linder Maybe because when composing, you use monospace font, which lines up nicely, but the message when loaded is using proportional font? Thanks to the several posters who kindly replied to my query. Mort Linder If you want to do something like that, it is best to use a word processor to make a document, and send that document as an attachment. Depending on the situation, sending it as a pdf may even be better. ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Mort Linder composed on 2017-04-01 15:55 (UTC-0400): Sometimes I carefully craft e-mails in vertical columns, but when sent, they are all jumbled up and the data are co-mingled, often rendering them incoherent. Why does this happen, and how can I correct it? In HTML composition you're normally using variable pitch fonts, which you cannot expect to maintain columnar formatting without using tables or other complexity. Plain text composition should keep your columns the way you want them. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." If people use different Font types (Times, Times-New Roman, Ariel, Fixed Width, Variable Width, etc., etc.), then they may not see things as you have laid them out in whatever set-up you use. -- Daniel User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 SeaMonkey/2.46 Build identifier: 20161213183751 ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
