SM2 nightly: message pane views: deleting messages or not ?

2009-07-02 Thread dominique

Hello all,

Prior to file a bug, I'd like to check if anybody has seen the following
behavior (SM2 nightly, IMAP account):

- In the message pane
- Select view -- last 5 days
- delete messages (either a simple delete, pushing to Trash, or a
shift+Del (deleting completely)

- Come back to view -- all

Messages are not deleted
- Is it a desired functionality (that would be strange..)?
- Is it only me ??
Please advise if you can reproduce...
I have not yet tested this on a test profile, on some other accounts,
etc... but I have not found anything related in bugzilla so far.

If anybody knows of a bug already filed, even better :)

Thanks /Dominique

Tested with IMAP-Account on UW-Imap-Server. The deleted messages are
successfully moved to the Accounts Trash-Folder like expected.

I have not seen an filed Bugreport for this, and I was not able to
reproduce this follow your steps to reproduce.

Some Questions: Wich IMAP-Server you are using?
What are your settings for Synchronisatzion Storage?
Is your connection to the IMAP-Server really stable?

Synchronization and storage are set to keep msgs on the server, with my
 main folders being locally synch'ed.

Same here.

Last point: I always use SM in on-line mode... never off-line !

And this one too.

OK did some update and changed my old UW IMAP datad 1999 by the
 latest one :-)
impad daemon installed and restartd, all is now working fine, except one
 small glitch:
 - Sending a message, bcc myself
 -- message sent OK
-- message hanging with following pop-up:
   copying to sent folder
   sending login information

Is it a usual behavior ?

I don't think so. I have tried to reproduce your glitch, and the message
was copied successful into the IMAP-Accounts-Sent-Folder without any
Errors.

In the Account-Settings I have set Copies Folders
When sending messages, automatically:
  [x] Place a copy in:
  [x] Sent Folder on: [imap-acco...@mailaddress]

I never had used something suspicous like an Global Inbox or things
like that, and Local Folders were only used for my Newsgrop-Accounts.

never had such an issue with previous imapd daemon.

Me neither.
Anyway, the original problem has now disappeared.

First step. ;-)

 thanks for any hint

Hmm, whats the name of your IMAP-Accounts Sent-Folder, did it match the
name of the Sent-Folder from your Server? Maybe there was something like
an ~ to much in the name, there are some Articles in mozillazines KB
about IMAP-Folder-Names.

Btw., when I try to follow your steps to reproduce, SeaMonkey crashed
twice [@ nsPurpleBuffer::Put(nsISupports*)], bp-IDs:
abdb9f7f-1e6c-4db7-9971-65a222090702
7319c74c-16ff-4af5-b69b-584a02090702

when I compose a new Message and type into the To: Filed. I have never
seen crashes like this before in SeaMonkey.
