How about that!

The blog has it's own feed!

Yep, I use it too in IRC. How about that! :D

That's great for you.

How about providing a service to all the others here that might want to
do that, and explain how you added it to Chat.

I don't see the link in the topic.

Use https://ruby-rbot.org/ (an IRC bot) and add and watch
https://blog.seamonkey-project.org/feed/:

rss add seamonkeyblog https://blog.seamonkey-project.org/feed/
rss watch seamonkeyblog

The bot will check and alert of new posts from there. :)

Actually, SeaMonkey has its own RSS reader too!

I have a "Seamonkey feeds - Blogs and News feeds" section. I have a
couple things setup.

I don't recall why I never made more use of it. Email is just so easy,
and it threads so well.

And I prefer lists that work like .io rather than the Mozilla.org list.
In .io the default reply is to the list. In lists like Mozilla.org I
regularly replied to the sender rather than the list by mistake.

How do I install that one?

In trying to find an en-gb language pack, the only result found, is
the latest version.

If that's Marco Pinto's British English dictionary, you need to use
version 2.68 from

Newer versions are WebExtensions and, although they appear to install,
they don't work in SeaMonkey 2.53.

As posted to the list, on 30 March;

I have created a new replacement list for this list, this list being
due to be shut down as of 03 March 2021.

The new list web page address is
https://groups.io/g/seamonkey-support

Please read the group description on that web page, before subscribing.

I have enabled the option to allow for the group/mailing list to be
sponsored, to provide for more than 100 subscribers, should it get
that many. I would not be concerned with that aspect, until the number
of subscribers approaches 100, if it does.

Subscribers to this mailing list, are invited to visit the above web
page, and subscribe to the group/mailing list.

To subscribe to the replacement mailing list, go to the above web
page, read the group description, and, if you accept that, click on
the link where it says "Subscribe, which should generate an email
message for you to send, to subscribe. You should then receive a
subscription request confirmation message, for you to send a reply, to
confirm your subscription.

SeaMonkey 2.53.7 released!

2021-03-30 Thread Edmund Wong
Greetings,

The SeaMonkey Project is pleased to announce the release of SeaMonkey
2.53.7.

This isn't going to be a quick canned notification as there is
significance in this post.

What's so significant?

This could be my last "New release" post here on the newsgroups
(well, unless we release something between now and prior to
newsgroup shutdown).

I can't seem to shake the feeling of the fond memories of
posting here about the new Releases. First it was KaiRo,
then Callek. Then me.

A new era will be upon us when we finally find a new
place to post this (well, aside for on the blog). Hey,
how about I gather everyone's email addresses and spam^H^H^H^H,
post new release updates that way? :D [You can put down
those pitchforks... I was just joking... really]

Jokes aside, it's been a blast posting here and I'm certainly
unhappy that it's going the same way as irc.mozilla.org. But
perhaps the new 'thing' will be better?

Anyway, the end of an era.

[Unless Mozilla changes its mind and say to us "Just kidding,
the newsgroups are here to stay!"]

And as RattyAway [Where are you?] once said.. "Hope springs
eternal.." [ok.. he might not have said that... but let's
roll with that. It's not like he's going to post on here
and rebut thhat ]

I'd like to thank Mozilla for having this medium to allow
us to all talk about SeaMonkey.

"So smoke me a kipper and I'll be back for breakfast!"

Or was it

"Thanks for all the fishes!"

So please check out [1] or [2].

Thanks to all involved.

Edmund
