Re: fonts in 2.6.1

2011-12-31 Thread Pat Connors
I just downloaded 2.6.1 and as usual need to adjust font sizes in the
email program. I have all done except for when I answer an email and
the font is very small and hard to read. Thanks in advance for your help.

In "Edit → Preferences → Appearance → Fonts" you can set a minimum font
size for each language. Also, these preferences ought to persist from
one version to the next (they are in your profile, reinstalling the
application shouldn't change that) so I don't understand your "as usual".

Best regards,
Tony.

But doing so all affects the Font size used on websites as well.
Change the last font in the list to Veranda (if you have it). It may not
improve the size but you sure can read it better.

This has been a Problem since even Netscape Communicator days For some
dumb reaso the fonts used for Mail/News is tied directly to fonts used
for Web Browser.
They should be independently set and one should have no bearing what so
ever on the other.

People with vision problems (have to wear glasses) have to endure 8
point fonts on 17" and Larger Screens. You would think, as screen goes
up the size Fonts show up on the screen would be larger. But as size
goes up because the resolutions go up then fnt size gets smaller and
smaller, and smaller.

Here are ways to adjust text size:

1. Start/Settings/Control/Personalization/Adjust Font Size

2. Start/Settings/Control/Personalization/Display Settings

3. Start/Settings/Control/Personalization/Window Color and
Appearance/Advanced. Then try adjusting Message Box and Menu fonts to
larger and possibly different fonts.

4. In SeaMonkey, Edit/Preferences/Appearance/Fonts. Then make size
column values 16, 16, 18. You might also want to change some of fonts
(experiment with them).

Thanks for taking the time to answer me. Well, it
may do so in your computer but not in mine which
is why I hold off to upgrade. The print on the
browser is tiny and worse in the mail program.

Someone else has the same experience I do... I
will try Veranda, which I have. Thanks.

PS I am disappointed I this version doesn't have
the 'search' button on the browser which I had set
to Goggle.

So click in an empty spot in the menu bar, select Customize..., and add it.
