Re: [Sursound] Ambisonic workflow with mac and Nuendo
Emanuele, You can forget about the alpha version 2 of plug-ins, it seems they're broken and they won't load in any hosts, Nuendo included. As for the old version 1, I just got the intuition that if you tried to load my plug-ins into Nuendo, but without having installed the SonicBirth.framework at first, maybe they got blacklisted by Nuendo. So now, even though you've installed the framework, the plug-ins are still on Nuendo's blacklist. While Nuendo is not running, verify that SonicBirth.framework is the /library/framework directory. After that, go into ~/Library/Preferences/Nuendo 5.5 directory and delete the following files: Vst2xBlacklist Nuendo (x86_64).xml Vst2xBlacklist Nuendo.xml Vst2xPlugins Nuendo (x86_64).xml Vst2xPlugins Nuendo.xml After that, go into ~/Library/Preferences/Nuendo 6 directory and delete the following files: Vst2xBlacklist Nuendo (x86_64).xml Vst2xBlacklist Nuendo.xml Vst2xPlugins Nuendo (x86_64).xml Vst2xPlugins Nuendo.xml This will force a rescan of all plug-ins. The B2X plug-ins version 1 will only run in 32 bit, so be sure to set Nuendo 5.5 and 6 to 32 bit. Re: [Sursound] Ambisonic workflow with mac and Nuendo
Thanks everyone for your inputs, really appreciated. I just did the first test recording and what I am getting is pretty much the same results I got a while ago using B-format recordings from Ambisonia website. So, to start, I am using Nuendo 5.5 and 6 on a OSX 10.7.5. I am following instructions form Daniel Courville: http://www.radio.uqam.ca/ambisonic/hybrid_mix.html Once the session is set up, I get stuck mainly because I cannot see all the downloaded plugins in the plugin list. The only one I can see is Visual Virtual Mic (v.1.2) which I can load in the session even if it make my Nuendo crash frequently. Is quite frustrating, as I already tried this way a while ago and still no success. I can see the point of most of those plugins which are quite old and probably not compatible with my Nuendo versions. Daniel mentioned his own plugins and installed the latest version of those which is from June 2014, in this case I don't get why they don't work here. I'll give it a go with an older computer running Nuendo 4, to have a look if they are compatible with that version at list. Thanks. Re: [Sursound] Ambisonic workflow with mac and Nuendo
Just did some more test on a OS 10.6.8 running Nuendo 4.3. There I can see Daniel Courville's plugins and play with them. I can see and use Visual Virtual Mic. Still crashes though. No other plugin. I managed to play a bit with my recording in which I was talking around the microphone. When using a stereo output, with both plugins, when I was going Left, the output was Right and viceversa. Why is that? I just dropped the SonicBirth.framework folder into the Frameworks folder, restarted but still no luck with Daniel's plugins. Nuendo 5.5 is running at 32bit. Nuendo 6 is running at 64 bit. So far not much success then, and I want to think is due to my ignorance, which will give me a lot of hope in my learning curve. SoundDevices multi-track recorders have a B-Format stereo decoder, but the Brahma outputs A-Format, AFAIK. For monitoring purposes on the 788T, you can route the Brahma capsules 1 3 to the left and 2 4 to the right. As for the plug-ins, you can try mine! [Sursound] Ambisonic workflow with mac and Nuendo
Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while here and is now time to get out in the wild. Through Kickstarter I founded a Brahma microphone to have access to the Ambisonic technique and to play with it to learn how to use it. My main recorder is a Sound Devices 788T (which give me the option to listen to the stereo result when recording Ambisonic). I would like to know from your experience how to face the post production workflow to treat those recordings. I am using Nuendo 5 and 6 (or Pro Tools if I have to) on a Mac OS 10.7 and mostly interested in getting standard stereo and planar multichannels for film purposes, to start with. As far as I experienced there is not a happy choice of plug-ins to help me out with that, but I sure I am missing informations here and you are more skilled than me will be able to lead me to the right direction. Many thanks in advance. Re: [Sursound] Ambisonic workflow with mac and Nuendo
Hi Emanuele, There are quite a few plug-ins that will work for you, starting with the paid-for Harpex-B, which does some very interesting things and which I have found to be extremely useful in working with Ambisonic files. Then there is a wealth of free stuff, almost all VST, that can be used in Nuendo. Here's a good place to start your search: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ambisonic_Software Regards, John On 8 Jul 2014, at 09:43, Emanuele lamacchiaco...@yahoo.it wrote: I would like to know from your experience how to face the post production workflow to treat those recordings. TetraMic comes with two VST plugins that work with Nuendo 5. One converts A- to B-format. The other does the decode to speaker feeds. See www.VVaudio.com . Perhaps you can use the second one, after converting to B-format using the utility supplied with your Brahma?
