It would be interesting to investigate why it takes longer to _suspend_ with those options, since they are not doing very much _during suspend_, however, without me having the hardware this is hard to debug ;-) -- Stefan Seyfried Any ideas, John? [Suspend-devel] Dell OptiPlex GX520 (problem report)
Machine is unknown. This machine can be identified by: sys_vendor = Dell Inc. sys_product = OptiPlex GX520 sys_version = bios_version = A07 See http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram for details. If you report a problem, please include the complete output above. Machine is a dual core intel desktop. All testing was done from an OpenSUSE 10.2 live DVD. Suspend is strange in that hard disks turn off quickly but DVD drive and display remain powered on for maybe a minute after the CPU is frozen and the hard disks spun down before. S3 sleep is set in the BIOS. A10 BIOS behaves in a similar fashion to A07 so far. Avoid the the A11 revision of the bios on this machine as it stops the USB keyboard working with grub! Suspends on the console using s2ram -f -p -m Suspending with X (and everything else) running seems to result in a hang on resume (keyboard caps lock stops working, power button doesn't initiate a shutdown). -a options cause the computer to sleep but never resume (computer boots as if from cold when power button is pressed on). Using s2ram -f -p resulted in slightly less display corruption but the computer was still locked up.
