Re: [biofuel] WVO filtration

2003-10-05 Thread Grant Simpson

Hi ,I have used a 10clear water filter housing set with 20 5 micron
pleated filters inside ,you will need a small 12 or 24 volt pump to move it
around . just a suggestion , i have found these far less expensive than
using a racor filter .They last longer too .
If you have trouble finding a cheap set of filters pump , i can help you
there too .

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small portable filter set for
filtering WVO into my fuel tank?

TIA,
AP

[biofuel] Water Injection Biodiesel lube Oils

2003-07-14 Thread Grant Simpson

Hi

Has any one tried fitting a water injection system to a Toyota diesel
engine of any kind ?
If so ,how did it perform .

I currently run a 2001 Toyota Landcruiser Prado on a 80% / 20% mix of
vegetable fossil diesel ,the engine runs quieter is smoother in gear
changes (Auto Trans) , we are very happy with performance have not
noticed any drop in performance over 100% fossil diesel .

Does any body know what is thebest type of Lube oil to run in an engine
running on Vege Oil ?

Best Regards

USIS Group One Step Closer to Zero Emission Vehicle

USIS mounts to a vehicle's existing gasoline- or diesel-powered
engine to create a water/petroleum hybrid. Because it uses water and
can easily be retrofitted to any vehicle, the system is affordable
and readily available to the average consumer. Initial independent
testing has shown that USIS reduces gasoline consumption by 42%,
increasing fuel economy to 45mpg in USIS Group's prototype
  six-cylinder, 2.0 liter sedan - a car that averages 26mpg off the
  factory floor.

Sounds like water injection again.
A friend of mine years ago had a water injection system on his little
Honda
car, (in the 1970's) injected a water/alcohol mix with water into the
manifold with a little carburettor (adjustable jet). Worked well I seem to
remember, but it used a lot of alcohol (needed alcohol to atomise water).

regards Doug

Doug,

The new Indium-Gallium-Nitride solar cells will revolutionize CPV. This
alloy appears to be a perfect match for CPV. The band-gap covers the
entire
solar spectrum and is highly tolerant of lattice defects. A simple
two-layer tandem cell is expected to have near 50% conversion efficiency; a
triple junction cell efficiency of 56%. The cells should be tolerant of
extremely high temperatures (LEDs of this alloy can operate red hot without
damage) and are also highly resistant to radiation damage. Large scale,
mass produced systems will cost less than $1.00 per watt with these cells.
I believe the InGaN cells will eventually create an energy revolution that
will change the world. With costs lower than fossil fuel electric
generation, the floodgates will open and CPV will become one of the worlds
largest industries.

However, this is a highly disruptive technology and the huge oil companies
are likely to purchase all CPV cell-manufacturing companies in an effort to
delay introduction. The U.S. government will probably not delay the
development of this technology because the DoD needs the new cells for spy
satellites and laser/microwave space weapons. But I doubt that an
oil-friendly administration will push for terrestrial development. But
just as the horsewhip manufacturers tried to delay the introduction of the
automobile and radio manufacturers tried to delay the introduction of the
television, superior technology will eventually win. What do the rest of
you see in the crystal ball?

Best regards,

John
