How would that differ from the system currently employed for voting
in the US? Over which I heard many complaints in your last elections,
including many bitter complaints from people working with them, not
just using them. You don't even get a bit of paper, AFAIK.

It's just a software problem, no big deal to make it open and
accountable. (Just don't let M$ have anything to do with it!) Easier
than trying to do that with politicians and their campaigns!

You mean like they do now?

That's what you have now, with less than transparent transparency.
How much of your government has anything much to do with the will of
the people, as opposed to the will of massive vested interests,
immensely wealthy, powerful and anti-democratic corporate entities
that have the money to buy whatever government they want?
Corporations have more human rights than you do, mere humans are only
second-class citizens now - more "voting" power than you do too.
That's the whole problem, it's not a democracy anymore, it's been
bought off. How are you mere humans going to take it back? And you
should, you really should!

You're not looking at it right Curtis. You're not looking at the
current "system" right either, though I think you see it clearly
enough otherwise.

Hey James, you've really puzzled the Americans, LOL! Or some of them
anyway. Best explain the nuts and bolts a bit maybe.

Best

Keith

[biofuel] When you're a Geek and know what a computer can do .... You vote "no" Was: Direct Democracy

2002-11-26 Thread csakima

The problem with that system would be ... who would be the "system
administrator" of such a system???

The Admin would have almost Godlike powers since, being in charge of
how votes are processes, would be able to make anyone he chooses ... "win"
the elections. And then later, through the media ahem "explain"
why the dude won. I don't think I like the idea of having one single person

power is concentrated NOW ... you try wait until system administrator's got
