[svg-developers] sending variables from SVG+JS to PHP+JS
hi there, i am creating new objects by manipulating the SVG-DOM with javascript/ECMA. my problem is to send the newly generated coordinates of a polygon to the PHP/HTML/mother-document in which the SVG is embeded. it is not possible to send the variables attached to the URL, because it is too much data! using a hidden form-element should be the right choice - i guess. and actually - this is already working fine using the internet-explorer. but it is only(!) the IE who does it!!! :-( any ideas how i get firefox/mozilla to comunicate between the scripts of SVG- and PHP/HTML-document??? your help will be appreciated! thanks - hauke Yahoo! Your right Rick, there is some concern. But XAML is a publicly published API. For Microsoft to get upset about our XAML Clone would be shooting themselves in the foot. We're just trying to provide some XAML functionality until the Microsoft implementation arrives for XP. Even if they did want to 'dispense' with us, it would only affect the XAML clone and not our XAML authoring or SVG products. For those who don't know. The entrire 'Shapes' and to a lesser extent 'Animation' sub sections of the XAML spec is essentially SVG. Can any know about this ...? ILOG JViews is a commercial product from ILOG: http://www.ilog.com/products/jviews/ It provides lots of 'high level' interfaces for Graphs, maps, etc. However to use SVG with Java you just need Batik: http://xml.apache.org/batik It does not have the nice high level interfaces for graphs and the like, but it does have a very nice rendering engine for SVG, that you can access from Java (using the SVG DOM). [svg-developers] Role of XAML on SVG Group
I've seen the issue about the relevancy or appropriateness of XAML within the SVG-Dev list a number of times, and would like to open up a discussion here, as it may influence may own writings as well. XAML is undoubtedly a technology that competes across the board with SVG, HTML, XSL-FO, XUL, etc. I have three questions with regards to it, however. 1) Are people migrating from SVG to XAML (or building XAML parallel track developments) in their application development work? 2) Do people on this list feel that XAML is a worthwhile tool to be developing on, or do they fear that IP issues will end up pulling the rug out from under them? 3) Should XAML be covered within the SVG-Development list? I know I'm opening up a can of worms here ... it's my intent, but I think that that the adoption of or avoidance of XAML has become a major issue with SVG developers and would like to get a sense for what people think. -- Kurt Cagle -- Publisher, Metaphorical Web Publishing Yahoo! [svg-developers] Re: Role of XAML on SVG Group
1) Are people migrating from SVG to XAML (or building XAML parallel track developments) in their application development work? We are seeing customers that purchased our SVG products coming back now for XAML, especially since the announcement that XAML will be supported on XP. I think SVG will prevail in mobile and documents, xaml in the other areas. As far as covering XAML on the SVG developers list. I think XAML should use the Xaml news group, but as I mentioned at my talk at SchemaSoft the other week and here on this list, wrt the shapes sub section of XAML and SVG I don't really differentiate the two. Given that, healthy discussion about the pro's and cons of each should be showing up in both groups Cheers, Ron @ Mobiform --- In [EMAIL PROTECTED], Kurt Cagle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I've seen the issue about the relevancy or appropriateness of XAML within the SVG-Dev list a number of times, and would like to open up a discussion here, as it may influence may own writings as well.
