Victoria is a beautiful place, and it will be a pleasure to meet there.

This being said, it seems a little bit unfair to state that the US is
less interested than Europe or Asia in open standards. I was under the
impression that HTML and XML are quite successful here!

But with the notable exception of Vancouver, SVG Open was/is organized
on the campus of some nice Universities (Tokyo, Enschede,
Victoria,...). In the US, you will need to go after Companies to
organize such a thing. You asked individual developers, and this won't
do.

Besides, SVG on the desktop is still (at best) a few years away from
being successful. SVG Mobile is the big thing here so unless we are
ready to shift the focus from SVG desktop to SVG Mobile, it will be
difficult to capture the attention of the US.

My 2 cents, with the others...

Marc

It is my understanding that SVG will be integrated into FireFox 1.10
but not in IE 7.0.

The little that I know about XAML is that it is very similar in nature
to SVG and will be used in conjunction with something called Avalon.
Can someone help me better understand XAML and Avalon and what it all
means in terms of SVG's future?

When you post it in this forum, the bona fide SVG developers will

just consider that you are trolling.

Fine. Many binafide svg developers (having been one) have left svg and
this forum for Avalon and XAML. Many that have stayed have done so
partially by misinformation and lies posted on this group. For
example, XAML is only for Longhorn? False. We only work on XP. Few on
this newsgroup understand Avalon/XAML technology enough to comment on
it. I am consistently approcahed by *bonafide* svg developers with
serious reservations about continuing with svg who after some
investigation of their own, abandon it completely in favour of XAML
and Avalon.

Is Mobiform experiencing some kind of financial difficulty?

Like most SVG companies, we we're only scraping out a living with SVG.
We are in a drastically better finanical position with a bright future
by dumping SVG and embracing Avalon and XAML. Keep an eye out for some
major press releases from us in the next few weeks.

I know it is hard to sell unfinished beta software clones of

unproven monopoly rip-offs

My point exactly. You don't know what we do, you don't know where
Microsoft is with their technology. The *unproven monopoly rip-off*
Beta as it sits today is still more stable and vastly superior in
every aspect to what is available from all the *unfinished* open
standards/open source community efforts. In my opinion, excluding SVG
Tiny/Mobile, SVG has just become a monopolized xml format for Adobe,
and now that they have Flex, what do they need that for?

Much tension in the SVG World,
to those in the past that I may have
inadvertently ignored or to the likes

clichlike-piled on-un sensitive jerk
my apology's.

The SVG Foundation is an Pluralistic,

California Corporation/Legal Entity.
to those who conspire against us,
please stop.

Pluralistic: As the Internet is built of packets
flowing on their merry way, compound documents
wish to be merry in a granular way.
We advocate a SVG Community that promotes
diversity and creativity. Building Sites as Monolithic
entities is not the vision of the Web, it leads to
power trips and tyranny. We respect and
support those who have the courage to build,
from svg-cafe to svg.pagina to svg.org to .
let us respect one another.

Inclusive: Everyone is welcomed and free to contribute.
Let us raise SVG above the petty anti flash, anti Microsoft
anti-CSS/whatever it only hurts SVG and makes it look
like some little man complex.

Independent: The only connection from my
start-up Company(SOA stuff) in Irvine area
is to provide me and servers with Network,
Office and Attorneys (:)) I advocate SVG in business
to many CEO's/Presidents from Bax Global to
Western Digital, they want to talk about SOA/Security.
They all currently have close to Zero interest
in SVG at this time.

As we move forward ownership will be many

Hopefully I can get some rest.
Have lots of work to do.
