[swinog] survey: Resident / Business Customers Disconnect Intervall
== English == Hi together, I like to initiate a small survey regarding the usage and dynamic distribution of your public IPs to customers. The survey will be kept confidential and I have no intention to publicize the results to a broader audience. If there is no abstention I like to summarize the findings anonymously and post it to the Swinog ML. Motivation: At a project meeting the claim came up, that all Swiss ISP disconnect their customers at the same time. I think that is a rather bold claim and I would like to disproof or justify the stated claim with a small survey. Questions: - Do all Clients get a public IPv4 Address? - Do you disconnect your xDSL, Fiber, Docsis client connections? -- At a certain Time, after a certain interval, or never? -- How long is your average disconnect? -- Are business clients disconnected as well? - During the disconnect. Do you refurbish IPv4 Addresses or does the client keep his address? -- Do you use the same procedures with IPv6 Addresses? Please send your answers off list to my private email address: nobody...@kabelsalat.ch I'm looking forward to all your answers and I thank all involved parties. Re: [swinog] 3G Repeater
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Good morning Fredy, Hope you have everything ready for the swiss national party :) I have two remarks regarding this issue. First, any usage of active signal repeater is forbidden in Switzerland. (Statement of Bakom). Any base station system or signal repeater has to be owned / managed by an official frequency licensee. Signal repeater used in the field, do have some sophisticated measurement and control abilities. Second, a passive Antenna system with an WWAN Gateway or an antenna coupler for the common mobile phone is the only legal way to solve your friends internet abstinence. Unless he likes to build a wireless Network. But some times, it isn't at all bad, to have this lonesome island with no reception. :) Looking forward to the next Swinog. Re: [swinog] hosting for 1 powersupply with lan port
Good morning, If you care so much about physical penetration of your equipment, why bother with local storage anyway. There are enough solution out there, which do not need to have a installed system. As example: Coreboot with etherboot (payload) this combination allows you to load a system with a http server and there is even a so called SafeBootMode with verification of your boot-image. After that you only need an local storage, which could be a ramdisk or an encrypted tmp / swap hard or flash drive. So there wouldn't be any necessity to obscure your hardware anyhow and all further penetration vectors would need a higher sophistication. PS: I do agree that PCengines do need more RAM. A version with at least 512MB would be highly appreciated. Re: [swinog] Cisco WLAN Controller
== English version at the end of this text == Hallo zusammen, Die Easterhegg (www.easterhegg.ch) finden in ein paar Tagen statt und ist eine Veranstaltung des Chaos Computer Clubs Schweiz und die in der Schweiz verteilten Chaostreffs. Gruss Miguel Elias _ Hi there, The Easterhegg (www.easterhegg.ch) starts in a few days. This event is organized by the Chaos Computer Club Switzerland and the Chaostreffs (informal meetings of the ccc family) a cross Switzerland. We have already 330 registrations and it will be a big party with lectures and workshops. Our berlin colleges send us 12 Access points of Cisco (Air-CAP3502I-E-K9), but without a suiting Wireless LAN Controller. The original Controller failed to work and wasn't send to us. We are really in distress and I would be willing to offer free entry and Club-Mate during the event. We need the controller only during Easter and we assure the flawless return of the device.
