RE: [swinog] X.21, V.35 Cisco Interface in Master Mode
Hi André We've used this several times for customer connections at TIX. You need on one side a DTE and on the other side a DCE cable. As soon as the DCE cable is connected, can you set the clock rate on this I/F. --> X.21 up to 8Mbit/s Cheers, Günti > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Andre Oppermann > Sent: Donnerstag, 1. Re: [swinog] X.21, V.35 Cisco Interface in Master Mode
Hello Andre Yes, we had such a setup for quite a long time for connecting two routers back-to-back without a "leasedline" with serial-interfaces. It was somehow more a case of 'we have the interfaces already so why should be buy some new ethernetinterfaces when the cables cost not even 10% of the interface-price' than a 'there is no other way to do it' case tough. But IMO such setups are more a lab-thing than real-live stuff in nowadays. -- Kind regards, Roman Hochuli Operations Manager Nexellent AG Saegereistrasse 29 8152 Glattbrugg Switzerland Tel +41-44-5623040 Fax +41-44-5623041 X-NCC-RegID: ch.nexellent Corry's Law: Paper is always strongest at the perforations. ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog

Normally the modem (DCE) supplies the line clock to the Cisco. I'm interested in (production) cases where you had to supply the clock from the cisco to the other side. I had to that 15 years ago when connecting an AGS back-to-back to a Datus X.25 switch. Yes we've used such back2back configurations for a long time with V.35 and X.21. The availble clockrates depend on the type of cisco-gear and serial-interface adapter you're using (not all clockrates shown with a 'config-if# clockrate ?' in cli are always possible !) -Patrick ___ swinog mailing list swinog@lists.swinog.ch http://lists.swinog.ch/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/swinog
