[sword-devel] Problems in new WEBBE and WEBME but not WEB
Hi, In the new WEBBE and WEBME using Bible Desktop and And Bible there are a lot of \wj* and \wj strings. The following example is taken from Matthew 24 verse 1 buildings of the temple. \wj* 2But he answered them and there are 1 or 2 of the above strings in every verse of Matt 24. I have not noticed any in Old Testament books but haven't looked hard. Thanks Martin, As these two newly released modules are in CrossWire Main, we should create an issue in CrossWire Bugs (JIRA). These are USFM tags for Words of Jesus. By a lot, you mean 718 instances of \wj_ (where underscore denotes a space), and the same number of \wj* which is the closing tag. I'd hazard a guess that the module was made from an OSIS file supplied by Kahunapule Michael Johnson, and that his own script used to convert USFM to OSIS has not processed these tags. After all, we know that usfm2osis.pl in our own utilities handles these tags correctly. We know that last year he made the decision to adopt USFM as the controlled source text format for all the translations that he maintains, whereas he was earlier maintaining the source texts in another format. Perhaps somewhere along the line of moving in this direction, this is something he overlooked? If we were to download his USFM files, and perform our own conversion to OSIS, this problem should be solved. That's not to say we might not introduce other problems of our own making, though! Greg wrote, "Is there a reason he doesn't use usfm2osis.pl? " I've not asked him that directly, but my reply to Martin was copied to KMPJ, so we should presently received a considered response. The .conf files state, "History_3.0=Initial release; text from 2012-01-11; version synced [sic] with other editions of WEB (2012-01-18)". Perhaps this may indicate the the "synchronizing process" is faulty or done at the wrong stage? Re: [sword-devel] Problems in new WEBBE and WEBME but not WEB
I'll attend to it. The reason for WEBBE/WEBME being different from WEB is that the former have newlines that usfm2osis.pl is apparently not addressing. I was pretty sure this was all fixed, but maybe I used the wrong version of usfm2osis.pl, in the end. And, as David points out, JIRA is the right place for this report (and all of the succeeding discussion). --Chris On 1/24/12 9:28 AM, Martin Denham wrote: Hi, In the new WEBBE and WEBME using Bible Desktop and And Bible there are a lot of \wj* and \wj strings.
