Hi DMS Not quite. There's BibleTime Mini. It's useful to me
mainly because I run BibleTime on the Linux OS. Maybe Michael would
find some kind of starting point in the almost obsolete SwordReader for
Windows Mobile (5?) I was the last developer standing, and I might
remember a little about it if you have questions. It hasn't been
touched for almost ten years. I got really impatient with the low level
stuff that I had to use in Windows XP to sync texts into the mobile. It
led to me moving to Linux alone, and it's years since I used Windows

Please have a go. Developing in Windows is an unhappy and frustrating
job for me.

God bless, Barry.

Is anyone developing a Universal Windows Platform app?

I have used a bible reader app on an Android tablet that functionally works
great as a 'reader', but the author/endorsements raise significant credibility
concerns. Even if they offered something for a Windows tablet, I would not use
it.

As a recent windows tablet convert (from Android), there is a need for a
'reader' app (not a desktop application) for simply having the ability to have
a 'pocket' bible (or several).

I am a programming hobbyist, and would be interested in developing, or helping
develop an Universal Windows Platform app for 8.1

For those wondering what the main 'needs' would include, the ability to render
a text size determined by user, on a full screen, with easy navigation by book,
chapter, and verse drop downs, and/or searching by John 3:16 for example,
offline.

Thanks.

have a 'pocket' bible (or several).

I am a programming hobbyist, and would be interested in developing, or
helping develop an Universal Windows Platform app for 8.1

For those wondering what the main 'needs' would include, the ability to
render a text size determined by user, on a full screen, with easy navigation
by book, chapter, and verse drop downs, and/or searching by John 3:16 for
 example, offline.

 Thanks.

And then there are a bunch of knock-offs of And Bible in Google Play which are advertisment addled and generally bad news. If you have been using these - I would concur re credibility concerns. But that is not our doing.

Is anyone developing a Universal Windows Platform app?

I have used a bible reader app on an Android tablet that functionally works great as a reader, but the author/endorsements raise significant credibility concerns. Even if they offered something for a Windows tablet, I would not use it.

As a recent windows tablet convert (from Android), there is a need for a reader app (not a desktop application) for simply having the ability to have a pocket bible (or several).

Re: [sword-devel] Universal Windows Platform

2015-06-23 Thread Michael O'Neill
The app I was referring is 'MySword' - I can only question the credibility
because of the credits listed on their website.

I probably should have kept that part of my original post out, my intention was
not to raise suspicion, or draw attention to that issue.

I knew there is no tie to CrossWire after reading the 'about us' at CrossWire.
Additionally CrossWire sounds like a ministry, and not a way to generate funds,
or self-promotion, but rather a way to reach the lost, and provide tools for
the saints. I am familiar with Wycliffe, and have visited their facility in
Orlando.

I really wanted to explore the possibility of a windows tablet app. I have not
looked at the CrossWire android apps yet. I do believe that I need to do that.
Then I can share thoughts on what a windows app.

Thanks everyone that responded.

I've also come across what appears to be a knock off of Bible-Time Mini.
I say appears, because it crashed at the same point as Bible-Time Mini
does on my tablet, and creates the same directory structure as
Bible-Time Mini.
