I should also disclaim, Today I reviewed "WEBBE with Deuterocanon OSIS" in
a text editor, and sample verified the missing verses in WEBC. There might
be slightly different complete list in WEBC than this.

2016-05-23 Thread Michael H
The tag probably is strictly allowed by OSIS in these locations.

However, I personally consider whitespace after poetry part of the poetry,
and therefore part of the verse, not interverse material. If that's what's
going on (as it appears to be.)

Either way, I think that's your bug although not confirmed whether it's in
WEB USFX source, Hawiaiaia (I can never spell that right) or in ANDBIBLE.
and there should be some easy workarounds possible in the meantime.

Re: [sword-devel] Missing verse in AndBible

2016-05-23 Thread Michael H
These 95 verses don't seem to appear in the WEBC module using ANDBIBLE. (I
only checked the first 10 or so...)

There appears to be an interaction between your missing verses and the appearing after the end of the verse but before the end of the chapter.
Seeing that there's a high correlation, and no valid reason to have a
manual break tag after the end of the verse instead of before it. I see
many ways to resolve this without recoding ANDBIBLE.

So, where did Wisdom 16:29 from engWEB2015eb go in AndBible? This also affects
the British/International and Catholic Book order variants of the World English
Bible, but does not affect the Tok Pisin Bible, which was made with the exact

The World English Bible with Apocrypha/Deuterocanon (engWEB2015eb) uses NRSVA
versification. Wisdom 16:29 shouldn't disappear unless the versification
doesn't support that chapter. I think you are right in that it is probably a
JSword vs. SWORD (C++) issue. Either that, or it is a bug unique to AndBible.

I have no idea what that means; with WEB ( engWEB2015) displayed, the
book pulldown shows all those available.

Any Xiphos 4.0.x does this, for any module providing deuterocanonical
content.

Wis 16:1 quite clearly (actually, better than in Xiphos, where
I was not able to find out how to select non-canonical book).
If you want to find deuterocanonical books, you need the latest version
of xiphos. If you use LInux you need to add the good repository.

May we get the case of the corrupted download here?

Re: [sword-devel] Missing verse in AndBible

2016-05-21 Thread DM Smith
Yesterday, I double checked Wisdom in all the versifications and chapter 16 had
no problems. They all had 29 for the value.

If any v11n in JSword has a difference, it will be seen in all verses in the
same “testament” after that point. (The apocrypha is placed not in it’s own
testament but in either the OT or the NT. No examples today where it is in the
NT, but it is allowed in the software.) There was no problem reported that
Wisdom 17 was off. Or anything else subsequent in the OT.

BTW, If you diff the corresponding canon*h and System*.java, ignoring
whitespace there will be no differences in the numbers. There will be lots of
other differences, but the verse per chapter counts will be the same.

This is more likely an off by one error. What is confusing to me is why it only
shows up in one module and in one chapter.

Re: [sword-devel] Missing verse in AndBible

2016-05-21 Thread Troy A. Griffitts
This is just a guess, but I know AndBible uses JSword and Xiphos uses SWORD
(C++), so could there be a difference in the versification scheme between SWORD
and JSword? What v11n is the module using?

But even in the year 2016 one can be considerate and send both
HTML and plain text, which you did apparently, because I can
read this message just fine now. Thank you.

If you notice I was the one who was asking for apocryphal books,
because readers of the Czech Bible modules are quite often
Catholics. After all, theoretically, if anything, Czechia is
predominantly Catholic country, and if one wants to improve
Biblical literacy here (which I guess is the point of the whole
Crosswire project), then inclusion of the deuterocanonical books
makes a huge difference.

Having said that I will probably in desperation start to work on
adding deuterocanonical books from whereever I find them as my
personal project even before I get the permission from the Czech
Bible Society (because by holding my breath waiting on their
approval I got only blue in my face but not much anything else,
I am afraid).

OK, now finally to your original question. It's weird, but with
AndBible 2.5.1 (from the f-droid.org repository) and WEB module
(in the American spelling, just WEB, not any of the modified
modules, right now downloaded from the Sword repository), I see
Wis 16:1 quite clearly (actually, better than in Xiphos, where
I was not able to find out how to select non-canonical book).

May we get the case of the corrupted download here?

The ratio of literacy to illiteracy is a constant, but nowadays
the illiterates can read.

I think I successfully set up delivery to crosswire.org addresses of both HTML
and plain text alternate formats in email. In the year 2016, insisting that
only plain text messages be sent to you is not a realistic expectation. All
modern email clients send HTML messages by default, and receive them without
problems. Enough said.

AndBible displays Deuterocanonical/Apocryphal books. There is a "+" icon to get
to them in the book selection screen. I'm not interested in a theological
debate about canonicity in this forum, since we serve and are represented by a
wide variety of church traditions. My question is why the last verse of Wisdom
16 would be missing in AndBible, but not in other Sword front ends, and what
can be done to prevent that and similar omissions.

a) Please, do not send HTML-only messages to the list. In
Thunderbird go to Account Settings/Composition & Addressing and
unclick "Compose messages in HTML format, please", or at least
in the Composer window set in Options / Delivery Format / HTML
& Plain Text.

b) Concerning Wisdom 16:29, I don't understand it. I thought
that AndBible intentionally doesn't support
deuterocanonical/apocryphal books
(http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.literature.sword.devel/25943).
Or did the author of AndBible gave up and it supports
non-canonical books as well?
