firefox about:config

2015-07-17 Thread Dave Bahr via Talk
Hi. I'm still getting the about:config page crashing both window-eyes and
firefox. Even when I have firefox in safe mode. I have ff 39 and we 9.1 on
windows 8.1 64 bit. Has anyone found a solution for this? It's hard to edit
the prefs.js file, but that's the only thing I've found that lets me change
the about:config settings. Even happens on new profiles I create for
firefox. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Dave

accessing the add-ons on firefox

2015-07-17 Thread clark drew via Talk

Hi,
window eyes 9.1, firefox latest, windwos 7.

str:
1. open firefox.
2. go to tools -> add ons.
3. after that, press tab, and tab.

4. windwo eyes silent.
5. next, turn off browse mode and try pressing tab. now it speaks.
6. find the "get add ons" and then press down arrow, to change it to
"extentions."
7. hit tab and you will land on a lsit of installed add ons on your
firefox. choose one, and tab to "disabled" or "remove" button.

8. press space on it, and now try pressing tab. windwo eyes won't speak now.
9. press alt+f4, and answer "close all tabs" to the question.

so any solution to those problems?
the first, window eyes should know that this is the add ons window, and
then it should turn off browse mode.
second, i cannot fid the solution yet to why window eyes can't speak
when i hit enter/space on the remove or disbale addon button. at thsi
point, firefox just tell us to restart firefox so that the change will
take effect. the window is still the same.

Hi, I have Windows Vista and WE 8.4 I did updates this past Tuesday and it
seemed to take all day to do them. I started the process at around 7:00 a.m.
central daylight time. Are there a lot of updates with security Tuesday? I
used to hear "Instal updates on shutdown." I don't hear that any more. Also,
Updates affects my volume sometimes. Just giving my input. Gayle

Yup, I have had that problem and tried again yesterday to do a Windows
update and WE just stopped talking so I don't know whether the update worked
or not. Sometimes I start the update as recommended by Microsoft even
though I have my computer set to give me critical updates automatically so
if the update doesn't work, I just re-boot and re-check my settings as the
update may have downloaded automatically. I'm not sure why this message
pops up and wants me to update (I'm talking critical updates here) but it
does.

RE: using facebook

2015-07-17 Thread via Talk
Unfortunately, the mobile site no longer allows you to manage friends lists,
so it is necessary to struggle with the regular site for that task.
Sometimes that takes 1, 2, 3, 4, or more tries to make a settings change
stick. Also, there's a completely ridiculous check box, called notify me or
some such, in a pop up that only checks or unchecks with the enter key. The
thing pops up when you try to change someone to a close friend in the drop
down list. Focus is on the check box and, after making the appropriate check
box setting, you need to tab to the close pop up link. Sometimes, you can
make the friends list settings change the first time, but more often than
not, there's a lot of swearing and repetition of steps. Fortunately, my
curse words vocabulary is extensive, so I don't have to repeat those as
well.

I believe if you go to sounds and audio devices and select the playback tab

you want with the cursor keys and then tab across until you locate the button

Re: windows update.

2015-07-17 Thread Marten Post Uiterweer via Talk
I think Window-Eyes is not really the problem, but something in windows will
block Window-Eyes.

And when Nvda is running, it will not loose speech that often or even with jaws
not.
So what is the problem is the question...

It's interesting, this problem of losing speech seems to happen to
most of us. When I lose speech I'm not sure that it is wineyes
entirely. I was scanning in Kurzweil and lost speech just like it
does on line in a web site. The fact that it happened while wineyes
was turned off and nvda won't come up either makes me think that
wineyes may not be the whole problem. I have no answers, just observations.

I'm not sure why this message
pops up and wants me to update (I'm talking critical updates here) but it
does.

Re: Windows 10 is coming...

2015-07-17 Thread Steve Clower via Talk
The documentation I've read says that Windows-Q will activate Cortana, and
Windows-S will do the same except that you can type your query instead of
voicing it aloud. Both appear to do the same thing, at least for now, by
opening the text, rather than voice, search interface.

HTH,
Steve

Hi,

I know someone mentioned this before, but I deleted the message by mistake.
What's the hot key for making Cortana listen in windows 10?

I started having this problem with window eyes and windows live mail. It
seemed to sort itself out when I got the latest update. Pam.

I assume you are talking about Windows Live Mail.
As far as I know, this is a known problem with many messages coming from
Yahoogroups e-mail lists such as BARD-Talk. I suspect there is something
about the HTML and JavaScript that encapsulates these messages which causes
the problem. I am on two other ham radio related YahooGroups lists where
this happens, and have not heard from anyone concerning a solution. You can
usually read the skipped lines by arrowing upward through parts of the
message. The messages appear normal visually, but just don't read correctly
when read-to-end or down arrow are used. And, I think, when you up-arrow to
find the missing lines, you skip some lines you heard while you were
scanning downward.
I suppose I ought to experiment with cursor delay to see if this would make
any difference.

I have just started having a problem with WE not reading all the lines in
Win Mail. It will read a line or two and then not read a line. This happens
when reading with down arrow or read all. I can up arrow and it will read
the line. Window is maximized. Any thoughts why this would happen?
