First Annoyance with Windows 10

2015-07-23 Thread Vaughan Dodd via Talk
Hi all.

Knowing that nothing is officialy supported, but still hopeful that the good
folks at AI Squared are hammering at the folks in Redmondd for improved
accessibility, I offer the following experience.

I have had lots of problems with Audible today, and most importantly for
Window-Eyes, the activation process which relates to the Itunes instlal of
12.2, sent me to Project Spartan. The process is so inaccessible, that I
called on Audible customer support, who were outstanding.

This has left me wondering if Microsoft is truly serious about allowing
Internet Explorer to be a default browser, and to what extent can third
party developers be required to respect the user choice. I was able to get
some Window-Eyes mouse movement, but could not route mouse and poitner to
try and activate buttons to enable me to enter relevant data.

I'm not cdertain that the process of activation would have been more
accessible with either Firefox or internet Explorer, so I'm hoping that the
new browser is greatly improved by 29 July when 10 is out and we can ask for
support.

Vaughan.

RE: First Annoyance with Windows 10

2015-07-23 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,
Did you change your default browser in Windows 10?

Change your default browser by doing the following:
1. Press the Windows key to open the Start Menu.
2. Type "default browser" into the "Search" box.
3. A result labeled, "Change Default Web Browser" should appear. If not,
use the Up and Down Arrow keys to locate it, followed by Enter to open the
default browser settings screen.
4. Your focus will next land on the "Default Browser" button. If Edge is
your default browser, then press Enter. Otherwise, press Alt-F4 to close the
settings window.
5. You will next be placed in a group of buttons representing the browsers
currently installed on your computer. Tab until you hear, "Internet Explorer,"
and press Enter.
6. Press Alt-F4 to close the settings screen.

Hello,

A member of my mailinglist is using Window-Eyes and Outlook 2013.
Since a few days, his mail is automaticly red, when it arrives. I understood,
that it doesn't matter in witch program he is working.

He checked the options in the Outlook enhance app, but He could not find an
option for this.

I am using Becky mail and don't know Outlook.
Does anyone no, what is happening or how to stop this?

Kind regards, Marten

Outlook 2010 and the edit message feature problems with WE

2015-07-23 Thread Shannon via Talk
Hello all,
I have recently found the need to use the edit feature of the Outlook 2010
messages. I find that Windoweyes is causing this feature not to be
available. The options for it are grayed out and the most easiest simply
typing into the subject line of the opened message will not work.
However if I turn off WE and turn on NVDA it is possible to do it with
success.
Another thing that is happening is when WE will not allow it to be edited it
will cause Outlook itself to crash and close. This is most definitely
related to WE and Outlook 2010 not playing well.
I am running the Outlook enhanced app and checked that it was updated , and
I did follow all the extra download files instructions given here previously
and again yesterday. The only problem in running the installs came at the
Network 4 file. The message said that my install would not continue for the
following reasons. "A same or newer version is already installed on the
operating system."
Just to be clear I did all of them again this morning and restarted my
computer to be sure of all components.
It still will not work.
Any suggestions?
Outlook 2010, windows 8.1 64B and WE 9.1

Thanks Shannon

RE: Outlook 2010 and the edit message feature problems with WE

2015-07-23 Thread Michael Massey via Talk
Hi, Shannon. While I cannot give you a solution that will solve your
problem (I had the exact same issue with Outlook 2013) I had to resolve the
issue with the remote assistance of one of the Microsoft Accessibility
specialists. Chris and Steve made it quite clear that the three add-in
components must be installed for the Outlook Enhanced app to function
properly. Here is the toll-free number: 1-800-9365900. I believe their
business hours are from 5:00 a.m. pacific time until 9:00 p.m. pacific time.
That was the only way I was able to resolve the exact same issue. I must
admit that I wonder why the particular add-in won't install if it is needed,
hmmm. I had to call the accessibility hotline at least twice to resolve the
issue I had Steve on a three-way conference call with the representative
who helped me out, hoping that his explanation of why the add-ins are needed
would assist the Microsoft answer desk representatives in their training.
The accessibility answer desk has been of tremendous help, trust me, smile.
.

Go intoInternet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, and then Programs. There,
you should see a checbox indicating whether IE will check to see if it is
the default browser. If the box is not checked, you will be able to make IE

gotten a message asking you to make IE the default browser when you started
it in the first place. Hope this helps. O a;sp fpimd a ;oml that may help:

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the previous help with updating my Outlook apps.

I have recently noted a problem in trying to make HTML messages more readable
with Outlook (2007), and WE 9.1. I believe that I am current on the necessary
apps, however, I find that the ALT-0 option, as well as the ALT-h-x-v option do
not work to convert HTML to plain text.

I have difficulty in determining if all apps and set files are current.
When I am offered an auto update for an app, I select "update all", but that
doesn't seem to change the working status of either of the Outlook Enhanced app
features.

Thanks in advance for any help.
