Re: Windows 10 Upgrade Process

2015-11-24 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

Alan,

That's odd because I got the 1511 "Threshold 2" update by doing a manual
check instead of waiting for it to trickle down. I'm currently running
build 10586.14.

Although I think I read something about Microsoft slowing down automatic
updating for some reason. But I would think a manual check would get it
for you. So who knows.

You might try rebooting and then doing another manual check for updates.
The reason I say this is that the notifications seem to be a hit or
miss. My system was snoozing this afternoon and when I woke it a
notification about an update being installed and a reboot required
flashed somewhere long enough for Window-Eyes to read it. But I couldn't
access it. I confirmed it in the updates window. I'm not exactly
confident that I always hear these notifications. So that's why I
recommend a reboot.

Good luck,
Tom

Here is a command that will remove the Microsoft KB that installed the get
windows 10 app on your computer. At a run command type the following making
sure to put spaces where they are.
wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:3035583

now when you do a check for updates you have to make sure and hide the
kb:3035583 or it will reinstall itself again.

add characters, "s _ " window-eyes said "sister . . .

You aren't doing anything wrong. The call selected contact keyboard
shortcut in Skype was changed from Control+R to Control+Alt+R after the

Ai Squared would like to request your feedback. What topics, applications
and tasks would you like for us to cover in a future Window-Eyes webinar or
tutorial? The more information and details you can provide the better. Here
are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing:

1. Using the Start Menu in Windows 10
2. Finding apps in the Windows Store
3. Purchasing a product from Amazon.com
4. What is ARIA and how can it help me on the web?
5. What is a Window-Eyes app?

Thanks,

You should also search for Windows 10 drivers on the manufacturer's

There's also a compatibility utility to check your system before

Interesting. Yesteerday, My Becky email program suddenly stopped
working. Could'n send or recieve messages and couldn't delete anything.
Got help to restore computer to a previous time, to see if this helped.
It didn't. Then suddenly, the email program came back and has worked
fine. Also, yesterday W.E. says custom control, when exiting to the
desk top and I have to hit alt f4 again to get to the desktop. Wonder
if the Windows 10 window could be the problem.

Re: Windows 10 Upgrade Process

2015-11-24 Thread Tom Fairhurst via Talk
I have read both of your recent E-mails. I can't answer many of your
questions regarding the process since I have not done it. However, it occurs
to me that the answers to some of your questions depends on whether you do a
clean installation or just install it on top of a previous installation of
Windows. If you just do an upgrade, you may well retain many of your
programs and settings. However, I've heard from those who do this type of
thing that clean installs work better. Certainly, I would have a back-up in
place. In response to your issue with your Get Windows 10 icon, I finally
removed the update. I will hide the update when I update my machine again. I
have my updates set to advise me of my updates, but let me choose when to
download and install them. I've heard in Windows 10 that you don't have that
choice any more. A good link to an article that tells you how to remove this
icon is:

http://www.howtogeek.com/218856/how-do-you-disable-the-get-windows-10-icon-shown-in-the-notification-tray/

It is my understanding that removing the icon will in no way prevent you
from getting Windows 10 whenever you desire. Evenif it did, you can always
unhide the update and reinstall it later.

Hello listers,

Latest version of WE, Windows 9 and Outlook 2013.

I want to read a message in web view by pressing Alt-h then a then V. When
I press Alt-h, WE says menu closed. When I press the alt key, I can only
see message and file. View and help has vanished. Is there a way to solve
this?

Regards

Morné

RE: More Questions About Skype

2015-11-24 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
When I press Control+M after making a call, the microphone is muted. If I press
this command again, the microphone is unmuted. Window-Eyes continues talking
and I can navigate around without issue while the microphone is muted. Not sure
why you are getting different results. I am running Window-Eyes 9.2 on a
Windows 8.1 PC using Skype 7.12.85.101. The Skype webinar recording includes a
demonstration of searching the Skype directory, sending and accepting a contact
request.

OK, ctrl alt R does connect with the party.

Again, according to the list of commands on the Webinor, ctrl M shuts off the
mic. When I do a ctrl M, everything goes to hell. I can’t even bring up
Window-Eyes. I can’t even shut down the computer properly. What’s the deal?

I also tried using the bypass hot key, Insert B but still Ctrl M does not work.

Also, How do I add someone to my address list?

Does Java work for you on your machine? In other words, can you read through

I just updated the Using Skype for Windows Desktop with Window-Eyes Keyboard

shortcut on this list that had changed was the call selected contact. It
changed from Control+R to Control+Alt+R. Thanks for bringing this to our

following making sure to put spaces where they are.

now when you do a check for updates you have to make sure and hide the

What is the Process and what accessibility issues might I encounter?
Are my drivers left in place?

Do I have to ReSetup the Desktop Icons and Task Bar pinned items?
What about Internet Explorer and my Office 365 Outlook and Word, office,

Are people still having problems with accessibility during installation

Do I have to ReDownload and Install Windoweyes for Office?
Does the online download and installer work and is it completely accessible?
Anything else I am forgetting to ask about before setting up a plan and

Any particular better way than clicking on the get windows 10 button in the

Subject: Outlook 2013: cannot see all my menu items

Hello listers,

Latest version of WE, Windows 9 and Outlook 2013.

I want to read a message in web view by pressing Alt-h then a then V. When
I press Alt-h, WE says menu closed. When I press the alt key, I can only
see message and file. View and help has vanished. Is there a way to solve
this?

Regards

Morné

RE: More Questions About Skype

2015-11-24 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Bob,

The mike can be toggled, and contacts can be added, from the menu system,
opened using the Alt key.

Hth,

OK, ctrl alt R does connect with the party.

Again, according to the list of commands on the Webinor, ctrl M shuts off the
mic. When I do a ctrl M, everything goes to hell. I can’t even bring up
Window-Eyes. I can’t even shut down the computer properly. What’s the deal?

I also tried using the bypass hot key, Insert B but still Ctrl M does not work.

Also, How do I add someone to my address list?

Windows 10 Upgrade Process

2015-11-24 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: I might upgrade to Windows 10 pretty soon.
What is the Process and what accessibility issues might I encounter?
Are my drivers left in place?
Do I have to jump through hoops to get my paid version of Eloquence back -
will it be removed?
Do I have to ReSetup the Desktop Icons and Task Bar pinned items?
What about Internet Explorer and my Office 365 Outlook and Word, office,
settings and features?
Are people still having problems with accessibility during installation
using, I guess, narrator?
Do I have to ReDownload and Install Windoweyes for Office?
Does the online download and installer work and is it completely accessible?
Anything else I am forgetting to ask about before setting up a plan and
obtaining whatever information I will need to get back up and running?
Any particular better way than clicking on the get windows 10 button in the
notification task bar to download and install windows 10 when it comes to
accessibility or implementation?
Any suggested way to go back to my current Windows 8.1 if the install fails?

Get Windows 10 message window locking WE up

2015-11-24 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: Every few minutes WE will lockup, the mouse is still fine but no
navigation as it were.
When this happens ctl-shift-t reads "Get Windows 10 Normal" which sounds
like a window is grabbing WE focus. Anyone figured out how to disable this
automatic notification, advertisement or whatever it is so I wont lose focus
and have to muck around while in the middle of my normal daily work?
The symptom, one of them, is doing a read to end and WE suddenly just stops
speaking. I can usually do something to get speech back where I left off
like alt tab out and back but it happens every few minutes and is getting
very annoying indeed when trying to edit documents or in an important
article in Internet Explorer etc...
Has anyone figured out how to get WE not to lock onto this object or how to
turn it off so WE can continue reading happily without locking up the normal
cursor reading keys?
