Re: is the wy fi blu tooth?
True. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are different wireless protocols. But they are sometimes bundled into a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi adapter. So the driver package is the same because it's just a double duty device. RE: wifi problem to rod and tom.
Hi Michael, Well, clearly the card is identified by Windows 10, and let us hope it has been done accurately. One question I have is whether connection is lost after closing the lid, since you said it's a laptop? If so, it may be due to the fact that the wireless card does not wake properly from Sleep. Again, your problem has nothing to do with the modem. It's the bluetooth/wi-fi adapter in your laptop. Find the information on that in Device manager, properties, driver. Re: windows tablets with window eyes
Hi Darren, You can’t use the touch screen with Window-Eyes, you’ll need to connect an external keyboard (probably via Bluetooth). Also, make sure the tablet is running a full version of Windows rather than something called Windows RT. Otherwise you should be fine. RE: 32 or 64 bit, that is the question
My thoughts on this are mainly directed buy the amount of ram on your system. If you have 4 gb of ram or less go with x86. If you have more then 4gb of ram then you will want to go with x64. Yes x86 will at some point be fazed out. This will probably not happen soon how-ever. There are some advantages to x64 but your system will probably not be able to take advantage of them if it is an older system. It seems that the system must be upgraded to W 10 32 bit first, activated and then a clean install of W 10 64 bit can be undertaken if desired. I think, although not confirmed, the update from W 10 32 bit to W 10 64 bit is also free. So, my questions are: Is 64 bit the comeing standard and so sooner or later 32 bit will be phased out? i.e. Is it better to bite the bullet now rather than be tforced into a change in the future? Also, my system would probably benefit from a clean install regardless of the version of W 10. Or, is there no real advantage in going up to 64 bit at present? I know my system and printer will handle 64 bit and thankfully there is no difference in versions of WE. That is unlike the opposition of course. Your thoughts please. RE: Webinar and tutorial topics - feedback requested
Hello Mark: Below are some of my musings regardins trainings and webinars. Audio editing using Audacity with Window eyes. Tips to give the sighted so that they can produce accessible html emails. How to alt tag images, links, etc. Segment emails using headings, etc. Working with visual Studio. Microsoft office, going beyond the basics: Customizing and using the quick navigation toolbar. Working with styles in MS Word. Working with the recovered documents pain. Working with the VBA editor. Note, this is not how to program, but more on how to use the tools provided. Working with the trace and formula error dialogs in MS Excel. Since the trace seems too graphical, I am not sure if this has a way to use without vision. MS Outlook, managing views, like conversation. Grouping emails by date, sender, sorting choices, etc. Advanced slide automations in MS Power Point. Playing sounds, videos, custom slide animation, etc. Creating and entering data in a form in MS Word Tips and techniques for collaborative document editing using MS Word with multiple content creators, both sighted and blind. How to create a document in MS Word so that it can be turned into a navigable pdf document for screen readers. Working with fields in MS Word (e.g. cross references, footnotes, document references, Table of contents, etc.) How to navigate a document using hyperlink references. Adding and removing headers and footers, filling out headers and footers. Managing contacts in MS Outlook Working with MS Visio If any of the above topics pique your interest, feel free to contact me off list to discuss further. What topics, applications and tasks would you like for us to cover in a future Window-Eyes webinar or tutorial? The more information and details you can provide the better. Here are a few examples to get your creative juices flowing: 1. Using the Start Menu in Windows 10 2. Finding apps in the Windows Store 3. Purchasing a product from Amazon.com 4. What is ARIA and how can it help me on the web? 5. What is a Window-Eyes app? Paid Eloquence and Windows 10 install
Hi: I remember there were problems with the way WE handled the Eloquence files during the Windows 10 upgrade process. That is there were some hoops to jump through to get your paid copy of Eloquence back and running after a Windows 10 upgrade. I don't see anything in the most recent tutorial on installing and setting up windows 10 via the upgrade method related to this problem. Has WE handled it or just not included it in their tutorial to keep it cleaner and simpler? Windows 10 says they levave all files intact so I would think the Eloquence files and support files would be kept in place but there was nothing in Marks tutorial I read on this unless I read the wrong one. Thanks - getting ready for upgrading to windows 10. Rick USA ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. Re: still having wifi drop outs.
Hi Steve this is only a new problem since a windows 10 update so if it’s a driver then it will be a pain to fix I guess. -Original Message- From: Steve Jacobson via Talk Sent: Friday, November 27, 2015 2:15 PM To: 'Window-Eyes Discussion List' Subject: RE: still having wifi drop outs. Hi Michael, If you have other wireless networks nearby, you may be losing connection as your wireless card attempts to join those and disconnects from yours. This happened to me, and so I went to using hard-wired Ethernet cable, and have no problems anymore.
