Hey guys,
So, perhaps my 1st message didn't get through. I am no longer to get to
my inbox after doing an upgrade to thunderbird. It didn't even ask my

some nonsense about new in thunderbird 45, bla bla bla. Now, i am
tabbing around, and there is no inbox what so ever. I can get to the
main menu bar, with file, edit, tools, all of that, but no inbox, so how
do i get there? I tabbed through the page 4 times, and nothing. It
keeps telling me about all the new features, sign in, asking me if this
article is helpful and all that. I just wanna be able to read my mail.
 Any ideas?

Robin,

It's the synthesizer attempting to decide which form of the word to use
according to context. But of course when reading by word and to an extent line
there is no or little context. If the synth is sent a sentence then there's
context. But they can only do so much on the fly with these homonyms. And
screen-readers are the ultimate challenge given the way they work.

Consider a talking device which speaks its own menus, options, messages, etc.
In such an environment the entire vocabulary and contextual use is known in
advance. So the same synth can be programmed to be phonetically perfect for
each of the relatively small number of speech events that will occur.

Regards,
Tom

2016-04-26 Thread Curtis Delzer via Talk
adding attachments is simple in Becky, alt-f, a, and you're in the
dialogue from where you can select a file, or, paste the pathname to the
attachment.
I use a program which I can use the right click menu to get the pathname
to any file I am currently looking at on my computer so it is a snap to
put that into Becky.

Robin,

It's the synthesizer attempting to decide which form of the word to use
according to context. But of course when reading by word and to an
extent line there is no or little context. If the synth is sent a
sentence then there's context. But they can only do so much on the fly
with these homonyms. And screen-readers are the ultimate challenge given
the way they work.

Consider a talking device which speaks its own menus, options, messages,
etc. In such an environment the entire vocabulary and contextual use is
known in advance. So the same synth can be programmed to be phonetically
perfect for each of the relatively small number of speech events that
will occur.

Tom

Re: WE & Thunderbird Question

2016-04-26 Thread Bernie Perella via Talk

Hi Nick,

I am experiencing the same problem with Thunderbird. When composing a
message, We will not read characters that are deleted. But, this
behavior started about a week ago when I foolishly allowed Thunderbird
to install the latest version which I think is 4.5, with perhaps another
digit. At the time the new version was installed, I received a notice
that some of the add-ons might not work. But, didn't know what add-ons
were installed before the installation so I am wondeering if that is the
problem By the way, with the new version, I can not review a message
that I am composing.

Can you explain precisely which link you mean since there are at least two

Re: WE saying some words differently in read to end versus word by word

2016-04-26 Thread Tom Kingston via Talk

So the same synth can be programmed to be phonetically
perfect for each of the relatively small number of speech events that
will occur.

Regards,
Tom

This is only a curiosity... I've noted a couple different instances lately where a word

reading by Word or line. The latest word today was "resume" in a document I
was reading about Keyboard commands. In read to end, it was say resume, as in the
document you create for job interviewing, and when arrowing up and down or by word, it
would pronounce it as rezoom, meaning to start again. I know there was a word over the
weekend on a different document that I noticed this on. Just curious why this might be.

Re: WE & Thunderbird Question

2016-04-26 Thread Nick Sarames via Talk
One last thing, when I type in any other fields, I can hear what I am
back spacing.

First let me explain. When I post to the list, I find it easier to

correct window, and then I type control-n. Lately I have found that
when I backspace over a letter, WE is no longer reading the letter.
Instead I am getting the Windows bong sound. I tried maximizing the
window but to no avail. BTW, even though WE is not reading the
letters over which I am back spacing, they are being erased.

Now here's the interesting part. As I told you, I don't manually type
the address for this list in the "to" field, opting instead to click
on the link in the original e-mail. And when I back space, WE is
reading the letters as I back space over them.
