Desktop set file

2016-05-30 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,

Using W10 64 and latest WE.

Does anyone know which set file should be loaded when on the Desktop?

Sometimes it is default.set with no association, other times is Win eyes
while other times explorer.set with association.

I would like to make some setting changes dealing with reading tool
tips but with thedifferent set files loaded for the Desktop, it makes it
difficult.

Thanks
Neville.

An email to which I can't reply

2016-05-30 Thread Donald L. Roberts via Talk

I want to mention a problem and hope that some lister has a solution.

I am communicating by email with a company. When they email a response
to my inquiry, there is a line which says "type your response above this
line." The problem is that window-eyes will not allow me to move the
cursor above this line. This is true both in Thunderbird and in Windows
Live Mail. Also, this is not peculiar to Window-eyes. Jaws behaves the
very same way. I haven't tried NVDA.

I am therefore writing to inquire as to whether there is a solution to
this problem. If so, please tell me about it. Thanks.

whenever you "reply," you can be "above this line," since the reply puts
your "quoted" material below where you write anyway, in most email
clients. If not, in the reply, simply arrow up to above the "quoted"

Hi Rod:

I am running a Windows 7 Machine which keeps nagging me to upgrade to
Windows 10 and, asside from some frustrating slowness when I first
boot up, I have not had any problems with the way Windows 7 is
working. I just close the Window which comes up to remind me to
upgrade to Windows 7. I hope that I am not speaking too soon. (grin)
Anyway, if I do want to upgrade, I will get a sighted person to do
that for me.

explorer.set. you have to manually change this for the desktop and the start

To clarify, I was writing in response to an earlier post where an individual
was not able to proofread what he had written because, when trying to turn on
browse mode, the message “browse mode not available” is given.

Subject: restoring deleted files from dropbox

Hey guys.
Has anyone been successful restoring files to dropbox that have been
deleted?
I can not figure out how to do it. Each file is not showing up as a link.
It looks like there is no way to do it.

Any ideas?

Re: sound forge

2016-05-30 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Hi William

Since a lot of the editing controls in Soundforge can be operated by
keystrokes you will be familiar with in standard Windows programmes such
as Wordpad, selecting sound is very much like selecting text, and I've
had no particular Window-Eyes related problems.

Hey guys,
Sorry to post so much about this program, but i'm finding nothing
obvious. I had to re-install it last night. None of my contacts are
showing up. I'm seeing something very odd. When i go to contacts, it
says contacts expanded, then i depress the tab key, and it sayd hide off
line contacts checkbox checked, so i unchedciked it. Then i see 1500
contacts in my list. Now if i check the box i see 0. How do i tell it
to show me my on line contacts. What am i missing? Any ideas?

Just wondering

2016-05-30 Thread Larry Higgins via Talk

Hi folks,

I've been wondering about this one for a long time, but just keep
forgetting to ask.

I, I'm sure like you, have two copies of IE11 on your systems, one
located in the program\Internet Explorer folder, and another in the
Program Files\X86 folder. Is there a difference in these versions?, and
is one more suited to use with a 64 bit system than the other?

Thanks, and hope everyone is having a great memorial Day,

Larry

Re: sound forge

2016-05-30 Thread Lloyd Rasmussen via Talk
I run SoundForge Audio Studio 10 under Windows 10 with WE 9.4. The mouse
pointer needs to be used for some things, unless you spend some time setting
up some windows. The equalizers and other effects, if you want to adjust
them, will depend on having the mouse pointer in the right place at the
right time. If, under Windows 10, you get the three-tone signal when
Window-Eyes starts, W-E won't be able to read most of the data in the
SoundForge window, because it was probably written with older display
techniques. You get your readings back after you have restarted Window-Eyes
and it has gotten started on the right foot. Nobody has written SET files
for SoundForge in a very long time, and I'm sure it could be used more
efficiently if one wrote SET files and scripts for it. But SoundForge is
quite usable as it is.

RE: sound forge

2016-05-30 Thread Steve Jacobson via Talk
I agree with Lloyd Rassmussen's assessment. However, it is really hard to
answer your question accurately without knowing more about why you are
choosing Sound Forge. I use Sound Forge because I bought it a long time ago
and got pretty used to some of the areas that are not that easy to use. I
like its noise reduction tool and feel I can get the results I want more
easily than I have managed with other programs. If you are just starting
out, though, I'm not sure you would not find less frustration with Gold Wave
or perhaps Audacity. I understand there is pretty good editing with Total
Recorder as well.

If you get the full version of Sound Forge rather than the studio version,
you have to use the mouse pointer to choose the version of the equalizer you
want to use once you have opened the dialog. Once you do that, choosing a
multi-band option instead of an envelope format, it works as Lloyd
describes. You can also get values for some of Sound Forge's controls by
turning Speak All on, but you get a lot of extra chatter. I am sure there
are likely other areas I find challenging that someone has found a way
around, though. Still, since I am as used to Sound Forge as I am, I have
not found it worth switching to anything else. Like many programs, it is
not possible to flatly say it is accessible or it is not, it depends upon
what features you use and also what your comfort level is using the mouse
keys. There is a lot of keyboard control, though, and a lot you can do if
you take the time to learn how it works.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Re: sound forge

2016-05-30 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Steve and all

Interestingly, my experience is somewhat different, in that the Equaliser
reads exactly like all the other dialogues in Soundforge Pro, and that
continues to be true with Windows7 and W-
E 9.4. I haven't yet tried Windows10.

So, as usual with Windows, personal experience may vary.
