RE: Windows 10 upgrade for assistive technology users
Hi Rick, In my Windows 10 Home edition, I used Windows Update, and, in that dialog, the Check for updates button, and, once the Install updates button appeared, that is, after the update downloaded, the new version was installed. Now, on another version of Windows 10, this time Ultimate within a virtual machine, I noticed that I am still running Windows 10 1511 and it is reported that I am up to date. I'll have to check on that over the next while and see if thre is another update available for Ultimate. if it is an upgrade version of w e 9.2 or higher it will only run as a demo if it installs at all. i would uninstall it before upgradeing from win7 anyway because win10 uses different sound and video drivers then windows 7. they are not the same. you would not have the problems of haveing to install w e twice and haveing to run the w e diagnostic test to do the repairs it would have to do to get it working. -Original Message- From: cov...@ccs.covici.com Sent: Saturday, August 06, 2016 10:10 AM To: net bat ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Cc: john_far...@btinternet.com Subject: Re: installing win 10 anaversory. Re: Windows 10 Anniversary Update Has Shorter Rollback Period -- Redmond Channel Partner
if you don't like the windows 10 anaversory you only have 10 days from the installation date to roll back this time. instead of the 30 days you had with the last upgrade. also check your privicy settings. some people reported they were changed back to the factory defaults. -Original Message- From: net bat Sent: Friday, August 05, 2016 3:04 PM To: nb Subject: Windows 10 Anniversary Update Has Shorter Rollback Period -- Redmond Channel Partner https://rcpmag.com/articles/2016/08/05/windows-10-update-rollback.aspx ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. installing win 10 anaversory.
first thing. make a complete windows 7 system backup. incase the upgrade fails. when you go from win 7 to win 10 anaversory i think you will still have to uninstall window eyes because win 10 uses different display technology you would need a full version of window eyes 9.2 or higher before you start. older versions will not work. upgrade disks will not work. they would run as a demo if they install at all. make sure you have a internet connection. sometimes it will not find a sound card driver. but if you have some u s b speakers or a u s b head set it should work. it should go to the desktop in about 1 hour after you start the installation. when it does press windows and enter to turn narrator on or off . then you will have some speech to start the window eyes installation. -Original Message- From: John Farley via Talk Sent: Saturday, August 06, 2016 6:59 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: FW: maybe you will believe me now. FW: maybe you will believe me now. Re: the upgrade assistant says the display driver is blocking installation
Hello Chris, In addition to reporting the success, or not, of this method, could you also let us know if the entire process of upgrade in a Windows 7 Pro environment to the Anniversary Edition of Windows 10 Pro can be done with Window-Eyes alone? That is, there is no need to run any other screen reader in order to complete the process. I note also on this list that others seem to have used this process with success; maybe they may be able to answer my question. ? Re: the upgrade assistant says the display driver is blocking installation Using this link, my tablet is in the first reboot. I didn't have any display error issues. I downloaded the media creation utility that is 17mb. I won't be truly happy until it is complete but didn't have any issues up until the first reboot. To Be Continued... As I'm writing this, windows 10 anniversary addition is being installed. Thanks for the tip! I used the media creation tool when I first installed windows 10, but I didn't scroll down far enough on the Microsoft page to see this tool when I tried this upgrade.
