First, since downloading and installing Windows 10, the synthesizer
voice is distorted; it sounds similar to a person talking too close to a
microphone. What is causing this, and how can it be fixed?

Second, when I try using Cortana, she (bear with me here) is unable to
hear me. Later, I receive the message that the microphone, whis is
ostensibly located on the left side of my computer, is unpluggged. How
do you plug in a built-in mic?
I have an HP Pavilion laptop, now running indows 10 and latest WE.
Thank you.

Linette,

Just open the Cortana search box with the Windows key and start typing
Default. You'll get Default programs. Press enter and tab down through
the buttons for mail, music, etc. until you find whatever browser is the
default.
You can also enter Choose a default browser and that will put you in the
same window right on the browser button.

>Windows 10, latest WE I thought that I had set Firefox as my

>How do I change this, or is it best to call the accessibility number?

If you type "default" into Cortana, you should get a match for
Default Apps in the control panel. Open that by pressing enter. On
the first screen, you'll get a list of your current defaults: email,
maps, media player and browser. You can press enter on any of these
and tab around for buttons to select any installed programs for that
default. Elsewhere in that same dialogue, you can set defaults by ap,
file type or protocol, but those dialogues are more involved. See how
far this gets you.

Peace to you,
Orlando

need some win 10 help

2016-12-15 Thread brice Mijares via Talk
Can someone tell me what set file should be associated when windows
explore is open? On my system, no file is associated. It says
default.set. Same when going into the desktop folder Owner. Please
refresh my memory if it's suppose to be explore.set. If so, how do I go
about associating it. thanks.
